If you are the brilliant one or the one who just worked your balls off, let us in on the secret to scoring better than 50-70% on path/pathophys q's

I don't think I'm brilliant, and my balls are still here... but I read all of Goljan RR Path, and listened to all his lectures...paired w/ BRS Phys, I'm getting around 75% on both sections on UW.

i'm by no means brilliant, but i did work hard.

i'm scoring around 73% in phys, and i also read RR path but I also read kaplan physiology and attended the kaplan physio lecture as well. I personally think that the kaplan physio book is the best one out there as it is very well written and has excellent diagrams and clinical application. try picking up a kaplan physio book if u can, it's a beast to read through-almost 600 pages or so, but a concentrated effort could put you through it in close to 3 or 4 days.

best of luck to you.

If i was going to read that many pages, I personally would just read Costanza physiology. I don't like the BRS series (same author), but that book rocked when I read it during phys, and helped me really have a thorough understanding of the subject. It's only 430 pages, could be done in 3 days if it's review.

I agree with you about the quality of the book (I like it better than BRS easily), but about the length--it's only 550 pages and that is including 150-200 pages of review questions and answers. So if you aren't doing the questions, the actual reading is probably a little less than 400 pages and when you take into account all of the diagrams, I think it's definitely a pretty concise book.

BRS phys is the way to go. i'm at 74% phys in uworld. there's just not enough time to read anything else. some things have to fall by the wayside. BRS is concise and well written. i'm using it and FA.

I think my problem with BRS is only in certain sections in which my medical education was not as strong (CV, acid base, resp) and BRS didn't have quite enough for me to pick it up all the way. Kaplan just sticks with me a little more and the diagrams are awesome.
