Hey all! My name is Jean, I'm currently an Air Force Second Lieutenant applying for the second time to the Army-Baylor DPT Program. My goal with this thread is to connect with other applicants.

About me:
- I graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2023 with a BS in Behavioral Sciences
- My extra curricular / leadership at school was being the Drum Major for the Drum & Bugle Corps
- I'm currently a Force Support Officer at Altus AFB, Oklahoma
- GRE: 161 V, 157 Q, 4.0 AW
- 3.36 cumulative GPA, 3.54 pre req GPA
- 160 observation hours, currently. I have shadowed at a cadet clinic (70 hrs), an active duty AF hospital (30 hrs), a local clinic (60 hrs), and am preparing to shadow more at a local hospital.

Please feel free to share your information, questions, and application updates here!

Hi Jean! My name is Jace, I'm a civilian applicant and this is my first time applying. I want to ask, those applying for the second time, if you received an interview last time how was that experience and what are some interview preparation tips?

Hey Jean, you said this was your second time applying. I’d like to ask if the admissions team tells you the reason that you were not accepted. Like do they give you advice on what to work on or some sort of feedback? Thank you!

Hi Jace, I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t selected for the interview phase, but hopefully others find this forum and can better answer your question!

I will offer that I’ve done a number of board interviews, and they’re all nerve-wracking to at least some extent. It’s good to be nervous.. because it means you care. The key, in my opinion, is to find the right balance between nervous and confident. What has made me successful in previous high-stakes interviews includes planning general ideas for my answers, practicing how to deliver examples, and bringing as much of my own personality to the interview as I can without sacrificing professionalism. Hopefully that helps at least a little!

Hi Jake! The answer to that question is.. sort of.

I got an email right on 15 November, their interview cutoff date. Here’s the portion of the email that resembled feedback:

“Overall, your application did meet our minimum academic eligibility requirements published on PTCAS. The faculty commends you for these efforts. Please review your record in depth to determine if there are areas such as prerequisite course grades, GRE scores, or further observation hours where you could strengthen your record if you decide to reapply in the next Admission Cycle. Statistics for previous cohorts of students accepted into our program can be found on our PTCAS directory page at http://aptaapps.apta.org/ptcas/ProgramRequirements.aspx?program=NUV.

With that, I can only assume that it was my numbers (GPA, GRE, hours, etc.) that brought me down the most. Like I said in my intro, my GPA is below the average accepted and my GRE is ~average. My goal this application cycle is to come in with more hours and stronger essays.

Hello, I am a first time applicant this year.

Extracurriculars: I’m currently a flight medic in the ANG (AFSC X4N051), for about 4 years. Several volunteer opportunities for that. About to start a research project with professor Fall 2024. Nothing else really in extracurriculars.

Academic: 3.85 cumulative GPA. 3.9-4.0 prerequisite GPA depending on program. One prerequisite left to take. Haven’t taken GRE yet, which I know is pretty late in cycle so cutting it close. That’s where I fear my application will struggle.

Shadowing: 40 outpatient, 40 inpatient, 20 sports PT. More hours to come.

Really banking on my experience for not just Army Baylor, but for all schools.
