I wish you the best of luck. That's a lot of observation hours!

Are you applying for Army or Navy?

Hey guys!

Just submitted last night (12 September 2025).

I wish anyone else applying this application cycle gets an interview email in October!

I wish you the best of luck. That's a lot of observation hours!

Are you applying for Army or Navy?
Yes! During covid I took a semester remote so I was able to work as a physical therapy aide. And I applied for both however, I heard most of the navy spots are given to those already in the navy.

That's awesome that you got to work as a PT aide. What specialty environment were you working in?

Also, I'm applying for one of the few US Air Force spots.

Hey everyone,

Appreciate you starting this thread. I’ve been following past cycles and am glad to finally join the conversation.

About me:
First time applicant (application verified 22 August)
12-year SFC Army medic with years of clinical and leadership experience
120 observation hours split between H2F and a military clinic
GRE: 151 Verbal, 154 Quant, 4.0 AWA
GPA: 3.93 undergrad, 3.94 pre-req
LORs from Army Baylor alum, Army physician, O6 commander, and A&P professor

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little anxious waiting for an interview email, especially knowing how selective the process can be. Wishing everyone here the best as we move through the cycle!

Hey Cal, welcome to the thread!

I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to nerves. On the APTA program description, the program mentioned that they plan on finishing all interviews by 15 November 2025. That gives us at least a decent heads up!

You have a lot of great experience. What made you want to switch over the PT specialty?

Hey Peyton,

Yes, and I’m pretty sure they do rolling interviews (in the order they’re received). The main reason I want to switch to PT is that I have seen so many patients as a medic in an acute primary care setting so I knew I didn’t want to be a PA. With PT I can still have a big impact on a patients health and wellness in a fun setting like H2F.

Hello all! My name is Sofia 🙂

Thank you so much to Peyton for starting this thread. I was so happy to see it after reading through previous years. I appreciate all of the support and positivity thus far.

My stats:
- application verified 9 SEPT; received by school 10 SEPT
- first time civilian applicant; applied to Army and Navy
- Observation hours: 400+ outpatient (worked as aide), 55 neuro clinic, 55 inpatient
- GRE: 160 V, 152 Q, 5.0 AW
- GPA: cumulative is 3.95; pre-req is 3.85
- Housing and Residence Life leadership experience (1.5 years) as well as an editor of school magazine, writing tutor, and TA (1 year for each)
- Currently working as a rehab tech at an outpatient pelvic health and ortho clinic

I am feeling quite nervous as I know it is very competitive out there. Wishing everyone the best. No matter what happens we all put our best efforts forward. If and when I hear about an interview, I will let you all know 🙂

Hi Sofia! Welcome to the thread. You have some awesome experiences and some excellent GRE scores/GPA!!

Wishing you the best! I submitted a few days before the deadline, so I'm likely last in line to be reviewed on the U.S. Air Force side of the house. If I have the opportunity to interview, I will let you all know as well!

Hey everyone! My name's Cait.

Some really impressive stats in this thread! Feeling pretty nervous while awaiting an interview date, so I'd love to connect with everyone 🙂

About me:
- First time applicant
- USAF Staff Sergeant (7 years), last 3 were in the Reserves
- CGPA: 3.85; Pre-req GPA: 3.88, BS in Exercise Physiology
- GRE: 153 V, 148 Q, 4.5 AW
- Observation Hours: ~1,300 inpatient, 300 outpatient
- Relevant work experience: rehab tech, personal trainer, emergency room
- LORs from Army Baylor alum (PT), former Army special forces Strength & Conditioning coach (professional), professor, O-5 Deputy Commander (professional)

A bit of a weird situation for me, I'm applying for Army/Navy seats since I'll separate from the Air Force before the program start date. AF only accepts applicants who are currently in the AF and are from the Academy, ROTC, or currently active duty, meaning AF Reservists cannot apply for any seat. I was advised to apply as a regular veteran; hoping for the best and willing to answer any questions! Best of luck to everyone.

Hi Cait! Welcome to the thread! We definitely have some high performers in this thread.

I don't think I've seen that many inpatient hours before. That's impressive! You're situation is pretty unique and I wish you the best in pursuing an Army/Navy spot.

Hey everyone, I'm Eric.

Nervous and excited now that applications are finally done. Now we just wait!

About me:
- First time applicant
- Active Army CPT, Armor branch (6 yrs)
- CGPA: 3.78. Dual Major BA in psychology and sociology
- GRE: 160 V, 155 Q, 5.5 AW
- Observation Hours: just over 100, all in a military outpatient clinic / hospital
- LORs from 2x Army Baylor alum (PT), Anatomy professor, O-6 BDE CDR

I'm definitely nervous. Seeing how competitive everyones stats are is insane. Especially observation hours. It was a struggle to get 100 over the last year for me (EUCOM deployment, train up for NTC, and attending NTC). So it's been busy.

I also submitted my application on the final day, so I won't be getting an interview for a while. I probably reread my application and the essays a hundred times.

Goodluck to everyone.

Edit 14OCT
I was lucky enough to get an interview the first week of October. Just waiting for 15NOV to see if I'm through phase 1 now. Goodluck out there. And before people ask, we cannot discuss the questions asked in the interview. You'll just have to do your best when the time comes!

Edit 14NOV
Got the email and am moving to phase II

Hey Eric. Welcome!

I'm in the same boat as you regarding application submission. I submitted on 12 Sep, had my application verified on 17 Sep, and received a notification that the Army-Baylor program received and are reviewing my package on 21 Sep.

I have also read over my essays a hundred times, lol!

Wish you the best, you have some awesome stats.

That's interesting. You submitted earlier than I did, but you were verified after I was.

I submitted mid-day on 14SEP, verified 15SEP and notified that Army Baylor had it on 16SEP. I guess the system works in strange ways.

It is interesting. If I had to guess, the program likely prioritizes handling Army/Navy applications first since they make up the preponderance of the application pool. As you said though, the system may work in strange ways.

@Everyone in the Thread

To share the opportunity, the Army-Baylor Program will have a Interactive Engagement Experience tomorrow (24 September 2025) at 1200 CST. I think there is still time to get registered at the following link:

Could be an opportunity to hear how the application boarding process is going and ask questions about the program itself!

Thanks for posting this! I went to a briefing about a year ago but I think it will be good to sit in on another one since we’re currently in the application window!

Hey! Thanks for sharing this 🙂

I wasn't able to step away from work as I thought I'd be. Would you be willing to share any application process insights from this?

Also, I submitted mine on 15 Sep (was waiting for my Commander's LOR), verified on 17 Sep, still no word back on if the school has my app. I wonder if it auto-sorts into each branch and mine was sent straight to the Air Force.

Hey, nothing ground breaking came out. Nothing about current applications. Lots of questions about pre requisites and then some general "what's the military like" questions.

They said competitive line for GRE is typically 315, with 156Q, and a 4.5 AW. GPA competitive is around 3.7. But that's all on their website, so nothing new there.

Outside of the competetive line your experiences obviously set you apart if you have leadership experiences, and make sure to input your previous assignments and duty stations in "experiences" for us prior military. I assumed they just pulled my OERs and STP, but that's not the case.

Also only a quarter of people get interviews. This is also in the outcomes section of their website. You can see around 700 people apply each year, and about 230ish I think get interviews.

But no news for us current applicants really.

Thanks for the summarization, Eric!

Just to add some additional info from the 24 September 2025 Interactive Engagement with the Army-Baylor Program for everyone and current or future Air Force Applicants:

(INFORMATION CURRENT AS OF 24 SEPTEMBER 2025)

- Regarding applicants with outstanding prerequisite courses: The Army-Baylor Program Scheduling Officer indicated that having two outstanding prerequisites at the time of application submission is unlikely to be viewed negatively compared to applicants who have completed all eleven prerequisites. The program assesses an applicant's potential performance in the remaining prerequisite courses based on their existing academic record. For example, a consistent history of high grades suggests a high likelihood of similar performance in the remaining courses.

- For U.S. Air Force applicants invited to interview: Army-Baylor Program representatives stated that interviews are typically conducted by a U.S. Air Force Field Grade Officer, often a Physical Therapy Professor within the program.

- Regarding Letters of Recommendation (LOR): The program recommends that LORs be written by individuals who have known the applicant for a significant period. While no specific timeframe was specified, an Application Representative indicated that a LOR from an Army-Baylor alumnus who has known the applicant for only a short period (e.g., two months) may be less impactful than a LOR from someone who has known the applicant for a year or more and can speak to their character in detail. This guidance is likely subjective and may be useful when selecting individuals to provide LORs in PTCAS.

Just to caveat that this information came from questions I asked during the Interactive Engagement. I would highly recommend routinely participating in the Interactive Engagements to ask any questions you may have. I hope this information can help individuals as they shape their packages! For anyone who reads this in the coming years, this information may be outdated.

- Peyton

Hi all!

My name is Will, I applied to Army-Baylor and received confirmation from them on September 5th. Just wanted to check-in and see if anyone has received an interview invitation yet?

Wishing you the best!

Hey guys.
Second time applicant. Civilian, no military background. 4.0 GPA, bachelors in exercise science, 156 verbal, 153 quant, 5.0 AW. 500+ civilian observation hours, 40 military observation. Recommendation from a major.
Last year I made it all the way through but end up being OML.
Submitted my application on Sept 10, under review by program Sept 20. Since then, no word.

Good evening everyone!

(On the Air Force-side) I was just notified on 07 October 2025 that I will be contacted by an Army-Baylor PT to conduct an interview in the coming days/weeks!

- Peyton
Best of luck!

Little update for the army specific applicants. I sent an email today just to verify that the program had received all of my transcripts and test scores because some of them were ordered and/or received after my application had been marked as verified. I received an automated response:
“Thank you for reaching out to the Army Baylor DPT. Due to the current Government shutdown this inbox will be monitored less frequently. We apologize for any delay in communication this may cause.”
My theory is that for the Army specific candidates, the application reviews and initial screens done by civilians is delayed which is pushing out the interviews. Anyway, hope this is a little helpful for everyone still waiting. For reference, last year I submitting on 9/10, was verified on 9/20, received my interview offer on 10/6 and had my interview on 10/11.
Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks for the update, that could make a lot of sense! I'm inclined to think you're right because I'm definitely getting nervous awaiting a response lol

I was thinking the same thing. After I emailed them yesterday about delaying my final prerequisite course for a month due to tuition as assistance funding being put on hold I got the auto response as well, followed by an actual response the next day.

Thank you and I hope to see your updates as well.

Hello everyone,

To reassure those with concerns, the government shutdown is not impacting the application cycle. There are civilian employees involved, but the application cycle is a critical mission for the healthcare readiness of our armed forces, and they are still engaged.

Everyone will have an application status on the 15th of November or sooner. Program interviews are in progress and applicants are still being considered for interviews.

Hey everyone,
For those of us applying to other schools this cycle, how are you all handling decisions for those schools? Army-Baylor is of course my top pick, however some schools are requiring decisions by the end of this year and the Army board isn't until February. I remember hearing something about being able to accept a school, then if selected for AB, requesting to transfer out of that civilian school. Does anyone have more info for this? Thanks!

They discussed this during the last Q&A. They understand the process is longer for Army Baylor, and they understand people are accepting offers elsewhere too. It's just the nature of it. Just be transparent with AB and other programs. You can always accept an offer somewhere else, then if you get into AB just let them know you're withdrawing. That's why there are wait lists.

Accepting an offer elsewhere will not make you less competitive with other programs, or with AB.
