I am wondering how many others are in my situation.

I am a first year dental student and was accepted into the 4 year HPSP back in April but for reasons unknown to me, my commissioning was delayed until October. Right before my commissioning I was told that the OTSG would not be officially awarding the 4 year HPSP but only a 3.5 year, but that most of my expenses for the semester would still be covered. I have yet to receive any stipend, bonus or tuition payments on my behalf and now it is starting to look like nothing from this semester will get covered. I know atleast one girl at my school is in the exact same situation.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Does anyone have any information about what we might expect to happen or why this is happening?

Having just left OTSG I can tell you that that does not happen. If you were awarded a 4 yr scholarship and signed the paperwork on that, then that is what you get. If you were on the waiting list for a 4 yr and nothing came open then you could be offered a 3 yr scholarship starting in Oct. If they offered you a 3.5 yr scholarship it means they upgraded your 3 yr scholarship and you got lucky because they came up with additional funds.

If your recruiter was the one feeding you the information about being accepted back in April I would question his/her information to you. If you have a valid 4 yr signed scholarship that's what you are entitled to.

You should PM USArmyHPSP on this website who may be able to help clarify things for you.

KMower is exactly correct. The easiest way to determine the length of the scholarship that you were awarded, is to read Page 5 of the Service Agreement (USAREC Form 1131). The length of your scholarship is listed in block 28a. If you do not have a copy of your Service Agreement, I suggest that you contact your Healthcare Recruiter.

Thanks for the replies.

My oath of office states it is a 3 year and 6 month scholarship. My ADT is 4 years because I accepted the bonus.

I asked my recruiter if we were given 3 year scholarships and they were extended to 3.5, and he said no, this is a very unique situation.

The hpsp help desk is now telling me to wait to hear more from them about what may be covered from last semester but that starting this semester everything should go smoothly.

That makes much more sense. You are lucky you got the 3.5 yr scholarship instead of the 3.

Hey, I'm also a Class of 2014 dental student in the 3.5 year Army HPSP program. I had a couple of questions that I was hoping you might be able to answer.

1) When can I expect to start receiving my stipend/tuition payment?... I am curious because when I searched it, it said payments were made on the 1st and 15th of the month(though the post was from 2004)

2)I recently received an email(apparently from someone dealing with the HPSP program) saying to go to this link http://www.mods.army.mil/medicaleducation/ and login, but I've never made an account or password and I'm not really sure what the purpose of this is. Is anyone familiar with this website?
The title on the homepage is:
The U.S. Army
Directorate of Medical Education
Student Management Office

Thanks a bunch.

(Hopefully I didn't violate any forum rules)

PM Me with your name and school.

@USArmyHPSP Thanks for the offer to help, but as it turns out I just recently got paid

For anyone wondering about the website(part 2 of my first post) it is legitimate and is apparently used for a number of different scholarships, HPSP included... if you create an account(are a scholar) then you can access a the handbook, another forum specific to HPSP, etc.

I noticed it said on your account that you are a school administrator... Just out of curiosity, how would my name and school have allowed you to look up my HPSP info? Do you work for the Army or something?
