I just submitted my application about a month ago for the Prosth residency (2009 start date)...does anybody know when we find out if we got the spot or alt.list or what? We also had to apply for the 12 month AEGD...when do we hear about that? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I think I found out about the AEGD residency in about March or April, I'm not sure when the Pros board meets though. If you call the academic advisor listed in the HPSP handbook they should be able to tell you.

I thought the selection for the 2008 Prosth/AEGD classes was currently going on and that the 2009 selection wouldn't be until next year around this time? A senior at my school applied for the 2008 Prosth and she was told by past applicants that they found out around X-mas or shortly before.

the selection board for the AEGD 2008 class meets now, but all the 2008 specialty residencies were filled in Dec. of 2006. The application I submitted in early Nov. of this year is for the July 1st, 2009 start date. Anyone applying now will have to ''snowbird'' doing general dentistry for 10 months prior to beginning their specialty. If you look on DENCOM's webpage you will find the pdf for the fy07 selection board results.

The board met last week for the army specialties. How quickly can we expect an answer?

I emailed Col Malone. He said that we likely know the results by the end of the week before Christmas. It will come in emails and be posted the same day in GDE website. If there are multiple locations for your specialty then the location will be decided by the end of January.

I am also applying for a specialty (O/S) for 2009. So there's a separate board for AEGD and specialties? I just heard that I got accepted into the AEGD, but nothing about the specialty, does that mean i wasn't accepted into OS??

They are two separate boards. The way I understand it is that we could be accepted to both. I haven't heard from either yet. My recruiter said that I would here about the AEGD board tomorrow. I don't know if I will be getting that since my packet was finally complete about two weeks late. I am also waiting to hear for OS.

Hello my fellow military brethren. Would you all mind sharing some of your application stats i.e. board scores, class rank gpa, extrac's, etc to give those of us applying for future residencies an idea of what is competitive. Also any externships attended and for how long. Thank you, DD

People are already getting acceptances...that's amazing! I didn't think we would find out until later next spring for the AEGD? Applications for the AEGD were due on the 25th of November...so when did that board meet to decide on everyone's application?

No, I don't believe in putting out what my stats are, that's just so....umm.. "civilian", haha
Just work hard, do your best, try to do an externship if you can (i didn't) and apply and see what happens

I actually have not received the official acceptance yet, my recruiter just emailed me saying he got word that i got it

Just received a letter in my inbox notifying me of my acceptance to the Army Prosth Residency Program. What I don't understand is why I was wait-listed for the 1 year AEGD...is is possible that the Army's view was "well, we are giving this guy the Prosth Program, so let's give someone else the 1 year AEGD."? Either way, I'm psyched and wondering if anyone else has heard news one way or another.
