I know this has been discussed before, but all the posts on the other thread are very old.

So I was wondering if anyone has any new insights into why (other than base location) one would choose the army or navy over the other?

Especially if one is interested in surgery, and being able to deploy as a surgeon.

Thanks for all your time and advice!

Navy = GMO

Army = Longer deployments

Yeah so actually, in the Army surgeons, 61 series MOS, only deploy for 6 months.

70% of the medical assets of the DOD are owned by the Army. (Very reliable source). The Army has 8 MEDCENs and a whole bunch of MEDACs. If you want to do surgery, the Army is your best route, IMO. (I am biased, BTW)
