Is it necessary to be in the country the summer that you send off the AMCAS application? I'm a senior who's taking a year off (applying for 2005) and considering working abroad over the summer. I could be back in time for fall interviews, but I'm wondering if I need to be around before then.

most schools will start sending you secondaries in july and august, so it might be tough to complete them if you're out of the country. and you do want to complete them ASAP since it's to your advantage to apply early...
