I am guessing you are Indian? Lol.

I pretty much laid it out to my parents that I will marry whomever my heart desired...it could be a stripper. There is nothing wrong with that.

They gave up on me after a while...

So now that you have your parents' blessing to date a beautiful stripper, what steps are you taking to find one? Have you shadowed or done volunteering in any strip clubs?

if all you pre allo's don't know, cbrons is the man. LEGENDARY.

I know a few. And I'm not really liking it based on what they told me. I could care less to be honest haha

No. But judging by the foreveralone thread, it seems like some people here could use one.

Came here to suggest this thread merge with the forever alone thread. Looks like someone beat me to it.🙁

Hahaha...oh strippers. Would it be wrong if I admitted that one of my friends is a stripper...hey, it's good money. No judging.

It was when my dad caught me having sex in his car. It was one of those spur of the moment things, and she was just there. It was cold out and I didn't want to drive..so we got it on in the car in the garage. He caught us, and was fine with it..left us to our business.

I forgot take out the wrapper...it stuck to my mom's shoes. Thought my dad was cheating on her. My dad had broke it to her to save his ass. Traitor

She slapped me, and flipped the **** and started looking for women for me on shaddi.com. I was 17 at the time. Sigh.

Oh, I see. So you've been SLEEPING with strippers to get experience. Clever I didn't consider that route.

I have a getting caught story that doesn't involve an awesome stripper. Snuck out at night to go over to a boy's house (significant age difference ahoy. I believe I was 15), forgot to set the alarm, woke up when my mom rang my cell. She was, uh, slightly uncomfortable with the situation, to understate things. She insisted that the guy meet her after he drove me home.

Needless to say, he dropped me off around the corner and sped away quickly. I would have done the exact same thing.

Hey, I have boundaries. I don't sleep with strippers. That's one of my rules. They are strictly reserved for middle-aged men who are still virgins.

Laugh away man...I was ****ting my pants when I got emails from random girls forwarded from my mom's proxy email account that was registered under my name. Ugh.

quit hi jacking my thread

who here has or have parents that tried to get them an arranged marriage.

no not really.

although they didnt have a site for my sort of brown people before a few months ago so they might bring up now ._.

I think a lot of South Asian-Americans have laid it out to their parents that they don't want an arranged marriage. I have to say I agree with them.

hmmm not me ... I just told them if they wanna pick a girl for me its fine - less work for me - but I made it very clear to them that I have the final say and I would talk/hangout with her multiple times before I can give a definitive answer. And the same goes for the girl as well ...

respect.

I flat out told my strict Indian father that there is no way in hell he's picking someone for me to spend the rest of my life with.

He responded with a threat to send me to boarding school in India. 🙁

I agree with the second part of that. For an arranged marriage to work (personally, I mean), I'd want to really KNOW the other person.

Unfortunately, I lot of my cousins/relatives/family who come straight out of South Asian, get an arranged marriage, then move to the states have had pretty depressing marriages. Given, in the actual culture, I don't think you traditionally know all that much about the other person. Example: one cousin of mine slept in a different room from her spouse for over a year (because she said she hates the way he "sleeps,"). I would be so miserable in a situation like that.

Lol I'm sorry to hear that 🙁

Thank God I have really liberal, understanding Indian parents who definitely treated my choice/decision with respect.

and yes one more thing ... I am not marrying outside of US... that I made pretty clear lol. Some people in my family marry in the home country and apply for visas etc .... I don't like that + she would not be accustomed to the lifestyle here so that would be a problem

I definitely agree with this. I've seen this not work out so many times.

What's the best time to meet potential spouses? Med school? Undergrad seems to early..

Meh, he'll come around. Thankfully my mom is super understanding and chill. She knew about my ex of three years while we were dating, and was super cool with it.

Yeah, that's good. They say in America there's always one parent whose just a little bit more lenient than the other. Well, for Indian parents multiply that statement by x1000, there's usually a really tough one and a super-understanding one.

Nope. I refused to open them. Oh, how glad I am to be living 400 miles away so they can't just randomly pop-up at my apartment. Granted, my mom sent out one of her friend's to do a random inspection of my apartment one time...

God. Fuking India and stupid @$$ arranged marriages. Its a stupid @$$ culture to begin with and I personally am against arranged marriages.

Unfortunately I am from this cursed country and, like the rest of us, inevitably have to have this battle with my parents.

Fortunately for them, the answer is simple. I don't want to have an arranged marriage, but seeing as to how I've never had a gf or been in a relationship my entire life, I will probably have to go this route considering that I've failed at this, just like everything else.

I mean its not like anything can happen for a 21 year old guy with no experience - thats just sad and weak, and girls in med school would run the hell away from that.

Also attractive Indian girls are pressured by family to find someone by the time they get into med school, which is why 99% of them are in serious relationships by the time they are in med school since they don't have to waste time with finding someone and can focus on school. Sure there maybe that 1% but is it going to happen for me? Nah I'm never that lucky.

Ill probably have to get an arranged marriage regardless because I'm not getting into an MD school in this lifetime and will be lucky to get into a DO school. All those brown MD ladies aren't exactly going to line up for a DO - see for Indians DOs aren't "real" doctors and are "less of" a doctor than MDs. The sad thing is that this actually matters to families when couples decide to marry.

Trust me unless you have the GPA and the MCAT score to go along with the culture, being Indian sucks. Its great if your smart and successful, its the worst culture to be a failure in.

Some of these posts are pretty ridiculous, we went from "has anyone had an arranged marriage" to "sex stories in the car and jungle" to "this race is cursed and completely ignorant and arrogant". SDN I applaud you for your maturity. I'm not going to lie though some of these posts are absolutely hilarious.

Hey now, not all of us Indian girls are bad....I don't care what line of work my significant other is in, as long as they have life goals and are happy with what they do. I'm sure you'll find someone who's the same way. Being a DO is very respectable, and I know tons of Indian DOs who are happy with their decision, some of who are actually engaged/married to girls who are MDs.

Keep your head up 🙂

nope I don't have any story myself, I was just curious.

If you wanna know where this started I was watching that 1 USA show called Royal Pains and the girl in there is Indian and her parents try to arrange a marriage for her. She refuses and they cut her off from their multi-million dollar fortune :laugh::laugh: Dad screams and yells about elders of the family knowing more than her and if she wants to choose she can find another family  I <3 indians 😍😍

lololol I've seen that episode. That **** was intense.

I guess my worst story is when my dad caught me talking to a dude on AIM, and took away my laptop and phone for 6 months. The guy was actually my boyfriend at the time, and we had been talking about some scandalous stuff. I spun it so that he didn't know it was my bf, but he talked to the guys parents, went through my phone bills, everything. It's so much worse with Indian girls 🙁
