Someone asked this earlier but the question didn't get much of a reply:

Does anyone have the essential list of articles for medical acupunture? The academic literature out there is pretty sparce on this topic. Are there any article people have read for residency/ journal club that they can share?

Sorry to steal this thread but I have a question:

Does accupuncture help in managing trigger points in back muscles? I have bilateral trigger points just medial to the scapula. They are about the size of golf balls, very painful and these days make it almost impossible to stand up or sit straight for long periods of time. I have tried occasional massage therapy, but it has not worked and now I am getting really scared as the pain is constantly increasing (given that I am in the middle of finals and sitting at the study table for long periods of time.

🙁 I wrote a paper on this (overview of accupuncture for treatment of chronic pain syndromes) for an MPH class several months ago but unfortunately I no longer have the list of articles/articles themselves. You're right, there is not all that much out there. You could find pretty much everything there is with a fairly quick search. Sorry I can't be of more help.
