Whoa there, crazy tooth! Who said I had a slant? I guess my "eek!" was a bit condescending or "slanted." I apologize. I was merely pointing out that ASDOH's accreditation is...well, different from other dental schools on the site listed above at the moment, which makes me a bit hesitant to pursue it. I feel the same apprehension about applying to UNLV because they have reporting requirements at the moment. That doesn't mean I won't submit my secondaries to these two schools and pursue interviews, and perhaps even matriculate if it is offered. I happened to see a previous SDN post about this topic in which the author pointed out that it isn't even a curriculum issue. Regardless, it still makes me a bit nervous applying to a school with that ADA accreditation designation. I understand your being defensive and I would surely stick up for my school if it faced such a predicament in its accreditation status, whatever the reason for it getting the designation. What year are you, anyway? A friend of mine is a second year.
As far as my public health education leading me to Mesa, I will agree with you 100 percent that ASDOH is awesome in their focus on delivering service to rural, underserved areas and their emphasis (graduate certificate, even!) in public health. However, I have to be honest: in addition to ASDOH's accreditation woes, I have other issues with moving back to Mesa. I went to high school about five miles from ASDOH (Mesa High to be exact) and for reasons I will not delve into on this particular forum (holy conservative majority, batman!), let it suffice to say that I want to keep my options open abroad.
If you would like to discuss this further (I enjoy talking about public health [and other relevent things]), I would absolutely love it.
