I know that I am getting way ahead of myself, but I thought I would post this question while people from last cycle are still lurking around the pre-dent forum.

From other posters and Predents.com I know that ASDOH interviews are somewhat unconventional in the types of questions they ask, but what is so different? I tried to look up the school under the interview feedback, but it has been removed "by request of the school." I apologize to the mods if it is top secret. Feel free to lock this thread if SDN has agreed to not allow this info to be shared or talked about.

What's up fellow Washington resident?!

One of the hygienists I work with interviewed at ASDOH (for d-school) this year, she said her interview wasn't too bad, but they asked a lot of questions on politics and current events.

It really isn't bad - and not that different. They do ask current event questions but nothing you wouldn't know if you picked up a newspaper prior to your interview. I didn't think it was stressful at all and actually kind of fun. Just pay attention to the news this summer and you'll be fine!

Thanks for the replys. From what I hear ASDOH sounds like a great school. I had just heard that the interviews were stressful. Thanks for the advice.

There are many many threads about this and from what I've read one of the deans responsible for the interview process the first few years is no longer with the school. I interviewed last year and there is nothing to worry about - there is a manual dexterity test, a group exercise where you have to assess your situation after a mock natural disaster, and then your interview.

The interview was very low stress - two commitee members and one student. Some questions are strange but your answers aren't always what are important but rather how you react to them. As long as you know where you stand on health care issues, know some basic anatomy, and you follow world and national news you'll have nothing to worry about.

The interviews are given scores. Hence your answers do matter. Picking up a newspaper is not enough in my opinion. I didn't know that the city "Perth" was in Australia. I couldn't name 4 countries surround Saudi Arabia. I didn't know 2 supreme court justices. All the rest of my interview was superb. If I were to judge it, I'd give myself a 20 out of 10. However, I was finally rejected in April after waiting for 5 months. They told me I wasn't ranked into their top pile. So again, get those questions right. My interviewers were really nice and I had a lot of fun in my interview. I didn't let my inability to answer those questions hinder my high spirits, but to no avail, the answers were still wrong and I eventually was rejected.

I didn't say they are never concerned with the answers, just not always. The reason why I said that is because I missed more than 3 questions and I was still accepted - so there has to be more to it than the correct answers. Maybe some questions carry more weight than others and I happened to answer those ones - I will never know.

So wait..... They give you a current events quiz? And it's durring your interview? I knew they talked about current events, but not in the form of name 4 bording countries of Saudi Arabia (would the African countries across the red see have counted 😀 )The supream court thing is a little out of the blue, but I guess all of the confirmation hearings were going on around than. Thanks for the info. I guess I can see why the school asked SDN to take down the interview feedback. You wouldn't want to give an edge to those that interviewed later.
