ASDOH "Top Group" but no acceptance

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I spoke with Vikki Driving Hawk today and she was very helpful. She said their class is currently only 1/3 to 1/2 full (good news for us, right?). The committee met earlier this month and sent out 10 acceptances. They will be meeting again mid-February to extend more acceptances. She didn't say how many acceptances would be going out nor did she say they had a date that the committee would be meeting.

Also, (more good news) they won't be interviewing any more applicants during the next 2 weeks due to the Superbowl. They do look at the "Top group" applicants before they look at the waitlist. So, hang in there...it's still a possibility.

funny how there is so much contradictory information on SDN. some people have said that there was close to a 100% "put down deposit" rate at ASDOH....and now you are saying that only 1/3 to 1/2 of the the class is full. i guess the only way to really figure out the truth is just call yourself. i hope your news is true though. thanks for the phone call update though.

Yes, I received the same information from her. She did tell me that 1/2 of the class is full, but won't know until Feb 15th about where the "top group" people stand; so check back with her then.

I hope this is true too...I don't know why Vikki would lie to me.

Has anyone from the top group been accepted lately? I have no idea what is going on there.....

I am also still waiting to hear from ASDOH. I interviewed in Jan. and recieved a top group status letter exactly one week after..hmmmmmmmmmmmm, the suspense is killing me. I would like to call, but I don't want to be "that guy". Well, if I hear anything I will let everybody know ASAP.

I called a couple days ago... they lady I talked to (not drivinghawk) said "the majority of the seats have been filled" and wouldn't release anymore info as to when the next rounds of acceptances would go out. She wasn't very specific with her info. I'm also in the top group (interviewed in Oct) and am still crossing my fingers....

So has anyone else called lately to get some information??

Seems like there are a lot of us waiting to hear some/any news about ASDOH's 3rd round. Please keep us updated if you hear anything.

Just called down there yesterday and they have already sent out their third acceptances. When I called down there Nan was able to tell me where I stand in the top group. I dont really know how much I believe her because it seems as I read on here she has a lot of conflicting stories.

Ya you guys should call and see what they say. Iam interested to see if they give you the same information or they are saying just whatever to have people quit calling!!!

Has anyone else tried calling to see if the school will tell them there ranking?

Funny how I don't feel so "top" being in the top group.

Yeah, I know..... I was pretty excited when I received the "top group" letter in oct...... But with the number of people on here that have top group letters and are not accepted I guess it really didn't mean much.

I also received a letter yesterday that I am "top group" yesterday

Anyone been accepted that was in top group earlier???

How many of you on the top group that have not heard anything yet have been accepted somewhere else?

I've been accepted to another university. I've put my deposit down and I'm more than happy to attend that school, but I'm still hoping to hear from ASDOH.

I emailed Vikki Driving Hawk yesterday to find out my status; she replied with an email that said she is out of the office until Friday and she'll call me then. Hopefully I can get more specifics from her (how many spots are left, etc.) and let you know.

Just got in as of Feb. 20....This is crazy I have been waiting four years for this..........

CONGRATS!!!!

im jealous 😀

Congrats!
Were you in Top Group before you got accepted?

From what i hear from very reliable sources , the admissions committee meets today, they have 11 spots open....there is two "top" groups. The Top of Top has only 30 people in it. They will fill the class in their meeting today.

When will they let people know?

Wondering too! I'm getting anxious nowadays and hate this waiting stuff... I'll call sometime soon to get the info to share.

I talked to Vickie Driving Hawk last week and she told me the committee would be meeting today. She told me that the students they decided to accept would be called today or tomorrow if they were offered a seat. So, I guess just hope your phone rings!

Please update if you get a call!

They said that pretty much if you haven't gotten a call from them then you're no longer being considered. They already filled the last seats this week. BTW I don't know if they are doing an active waitlist or not so if anyone finds out let please post.

Has anyone in the top group heard anything from the school yet? Vicky told me that the class is full, and only 5 people in the top group will get a call in case someone with draw their acceptances. I haven't gotten anything from school since getting my top group letter. I think this is it for me..no more hope for ASDOH.

So, in other words, no official wait list at this point?

I recieved a "top group" letter after my interview and I just recieved a rejection letter in the mail. So much for the whole "top group" thing. It really gave me false hope.

agreed. the 4-tier system was a mess.

"Top Group
-Tier 1
-Tier 2
Waitlist
Rejection"

it gave the waitlist people a false sense of hope and the Tier 2 people a false sense of security.

So i talked to ASDOH last week, and they do have an active wait list. There were 20 people on it, they already took 3 from the wait list, but class is 100% full. the active wait list was taken from the top group.

My application status changed to " application denied"...well...that's it for me.
bye! ADSOH

me too! So much for this top group thing. Does anybody else feel that being in the top group thing was totally deceptive and gave you false hope?

Yes, I feel the same way...goGiants summed it up pretty well with the whole messed up tier thing.

Why did it give you a false hope? Were you ever accepted? Would you rather know that you are on the waitlist, or high on the waitlist?

I disagree. The system simply gave applicants more information. Some took that information and ran with it, which probably lead to some depression.

If you weren't accepted or rejected you were on the waitlist. The tiers simply let you know where you are on the waitlist.

From what I understood at the interview, the tier system was intended to let us know where we stand soon after the interview. We were told at the interview that there would be 4 tiers. The first tier would probably be accepted Dec. 1, the second tier would most likely be accepted by the end of the cycle, the third tier would be "alternates" and the fourth tier are rejected. The top two tiers were the "top-group" and it seemed that anyone in the top group had a very good chance at acceptance, but as you can see there are many "top-group" applicants who were not accepted, or waitlisted.

Exactly my impression as well. That's why I feel cheated.
