Ask PD to make a phone call?

Hi guys. I'm a prelim intern.
Is it all right to ask your PD to make a phone call to other PD re interview?
Will it affect my chanses of staying in my program as a ctegorical if I ask him about this call?

Has your PD given you any indication as to wether he would like you to say, or if it is even a possiblity? With only four months of your intership done s/he may not feel upto it unless you have worked with them extensively.
My impression is that most phone calls tend to happen after the interview, when programs are construction a rank list.

DrDawg is correct on both accounts...

if your current PD has expressed interest in having you stay and you are looking elsewhere, he/she may be loathe to make phone calls on your behalf, especially at this early stage

most phone calls are not made to get you an interview, but rather once you have interviewed to give a personal edge to your letters; generally these phone calls are made when the PD personally knows the PD or other faculty member not to a stranger
