I have heard of at least a couple of schools that ask people what their ACT/SAT scores were at interviews. I was just wondering what the point of this is. Is it just a question to see if you remember your score? To see if you're the type of person who is really hung up on test scores? It just doesnt seem the ACT/SAT would have much relevance at an interview.

Any other opinions....?

they want to see if there's a correlation between your mcat and sat/act.

how exactly do these scores correlate with each other?

SAT scores tend to correlate well with IQ. I don't know if that's the reasoning. PennState was the only school out of 9 that I applied to to ask that Q

How awful !!! I would probably just stare at my interviewer trying to figure out if they were serious or not if they asked me that. Who cares? It was 4 years ago!!!! Wow.

Honestly, though, you may want to pull the "I don't remember" card. Or, tell them and then remind them that was several years ago and you've changed/become a better student since then.

several schools asked sat/act score on the 2nd app. I think they're just checking your ability to take standardized tests to get a feel on how you might do on the boards. They probably have some correlation statistic in their database if they've been asking for those numbers annually.

i remember out of the 43 schools i applied to...only 1 asked for it on the secondary.

none of the schools ive interviewed at has asked me about that stuff...but i do remember my sat score. not my sat 2s...but the regular one is a pretty easy number.

😱 😱 😱 😱 43? Did you rob a bank just to pay for them?

Jeez, I thought my 9 apps were excessive

I'd be happy if they asked 🙂 It was my one redeeming quality of the highschool years. Making up on the GPA part now with my undergrad program 🙂

I know for sure that Duke, UChicago, and Wake Forest ask for SAT scores. I seriously doubt that your SAT score will have any significant affect on your admission to a school, rather it is used to see if there's any superficial correlation to your MCAT score. Maybe for statistical purposes? I dunno.

if i had the oceans 11 team with me i would have robbed it to pay. im a cali applicant so i had to apply to that many. especially since i am not a superstar with my numbers. i only saved up enough money over the last 5 years to apply once so it was do or die basically...

It's not that I wouldnt want to tell a school my ACT score, it's just that I dont remember it exactly. All I could say would be "thiry something". I mean, I looked at and wrote it on my college application. That is all I ever used it for.

And the one school I am thinking of particularly (Wayne State) has been asking people during interviews. Are they really going to have the interviewer write that number down so they can use it for analysis? During an interview it doesnt seem like they would have much use for it, except to try and maybe psyche you out. I can see them asking it to see how well you do at standardized tests, but like others have said... that was like 3 yrs ago for me. I had no idea I would be anything more than a construction worker in high school... hahaha My perception of school and how hard I work has totally change.

With all the 30+ MCAT scores on here... I can't imagine there are all that many people who are embarrassed by their scores of a test of basic reading, vocab, algebra, and geometry.

I really think it has very little meaning. I like the dishonest suggestion of "I don't remember", perhaps I'll use that when I'm asked to talk about my gpa.

Just be honest if you are asked that question, as you should be during your entire interview. I was asked in one of the two interviews I have had, but it was perfectly natural during the conversation. She was commenting on my ability to test well (based on MCAT) and asked SAT, just as further evidence of test-taking ability. Two secondaries asked for it as well. I don't think its a big deal, so I don't think you should feel like you need to hide it. In terms of things they would be base your acceptance on, it would be right up there with color of shoes or haircut; pretty low on the list.

No really. I swear I do not remember my exact ACT score. It just wasn't that important to me at the time.

My interviewer at UBuffalo asked me for my SAT scores and as he studiously recorded them (the break down), explained that "Your SAT scores are more informative than your MCATs, actually."

WORD!. You mean, I paid $185+ to take the MCATs when I could have paid $23>x (and that includes getting to the test site) to retake the SATs and not worry about....(digs through memory for MCAT-specific topics).....oops, can't remember them.
