I am not a science person at all and am really concerned about my science GPA. Here they are:
Bio: c-/c
Gen Chem: B/B-
Physics: B/A-
Orgo: C/?

I'm taking summer orgo right now and as you can see, I am getting a C in the frist session. Even if I did better in the second session, there's still many Cs in my GPA. I am doing pretty well on my non-science base courses but all these Cs are pulling my GPA down to a 3.27. I think I can still pull up my GPA by taking non-science courses and I'm thinking of retaking Bio or Orgo. Please give me some advice!

My specific concerns:
1. Shall I retake both bio and orgo? or can I just retake one of them?
2. If I do retake any of the two classes, would the old and new grades both be included in my GPA?
3. does it look bad if I retake one but not the other? or retake both?
4. if I ended up with a 3.4 GPA and did well on DAT, how big is my chance in getting to any dental school? (especially NYU?)

I'm really sorry if my questions sound stupid but recently I'm feeling pretty down and have no faith in getting into any dental schools b/c of my orgo grade. I would really appriciate it if people could give me some advice!

you're going to have to make the call on some of these questions on your own (or with the help of your prehealth advisor). i can say though that AADSAS will include your first grade if there are any retakes.

for the big picture... yeah, your science GPA will hurt your chances to get into dental school. i think a lot of adcoms might question your ability to hack the first two years of dental school -- which are much more difficult than undergrad premed courses.

that being said, you are not sunk. you can still get into dental school but you are going to have to compensate for your science GPA. if you haven't already, get involved with research and try to get published. shadow or volunteer at a dentist's office. study hard and blow your DATs out of the water.

good luck and don't get discouraged! tackle one thing at a time and things will fall into place over the long haul...

Thanks for replying!
I've been doing internship at a dental office and I'm also working in a psychology lab. I am sure that the psyc lab will publish some of the researches but its not really a "science lab," don't know if its okay.

A lot of people get C's in organic chem. Maybe take an upper level Bio class and do well (get an A). I don't think there is any need to retake anything unless you bombed the DAT. Best of luck.
