I am mainly applying to DO schools so I want to maximize the competitiveness of my application and get a DO letter. I've done about 16 hours of DO shadowing but they've all been different doctors and I don't think it's appropriate to ask after knowing someone for 4-8 hours.
Thankfully, I work as a scribe trainer, and I finally have the chance to scribe for a DO (finally!). The catch is that it's short-term since I'm only filling in - about 3 weeks (40 hours/week). I would like to ask her for an LOR near the end, but I feel really weird about doing it. Do people ask for LORs after 3 weeks of working with someone? I also plan to go above and beyond at being her scribe and be as charming as possible 😉
All my LORs have come from people who I've known for at least 1+ years so I'm struggling with whether or not this is considered appropriate. I'll probably end up asking no matter what but would appreciate any thoughts, advice, etc. on how to approach this.
Thanks guys!🙂
