Hello Everyone,
I am currently a first year med student shadowing a doctor in neurology and really love his profession. He is also the head of the research department at the facility. I have been shadowing him for a couple weeks now and want to ask if there are any research opportunities that I can take part in or even any case studies that he needs someone to write up. I have never done research before so I am a little nervous asking because I am not sure if he will say no since I have no prior research experience. Additionally, I have been told doctors get irritated when students ask them about research right away. I was wondering if anyone has good advice on what is the best way to approach asking for research and also what is the best type of research to start off with as a first year medical student.
Thank you!
