Just minutes ago a simple request to a fellow SGU student turned aggressive. Several of my suite-mates have been quite noisy for the last few months of my first year of med school. Today one of them threaten me of assaulting me when I tried to talk to him about this issue again. Before he assault me I locked my room door and recorded his statement. I then informed SGU about the incident along with a copy of the audio file. I feel very unsafe as long as this individual is attending this school. I tried to look for a student policy for this school about these matters but could not find one. Please if anyone know what may/will happen please let me know..... I dont want to continue here with this person around me.

All I can say is if you feel threatened ithis is something you should report to your local authorities - not post on sdn... if you really feel in danger it is always better to be safe then sorry and contact people that can help you right this instant.

Definitely this. I hope everything works out.

If this is in fact a real post: Call the cops and inform your school administration.

But really, SDN isn't the place for something like this.

Good luck.

Call the police. Talk to your school administrators. Try to not get assaulted!

All I can tell you is there will always be people you don't get along with....and you have to deal with it. I'm not in your shoes so I don't know if you did the right thing...but I would not get involved in anyones business period...

And you just started a ****storm because IDK if they will throw him out of school because of this..

Be careful OP...don't let this get worse

You are in the Carribean.

Take a picture of your classmate and pass it to the local police along with some US Dollars and instructions.

Hopefully this guy doesn't post on SDN too or things could get really awkward...

You have to figure out a way to get off that island!!!

wait until this guy gets drunk after exams, then call the cops for a noise complaint. it would be best if he could get nailed for DWI or public intoxication. If he drives away from a bar call in a swerving car with his make/model/plates.

if he ever threatens you again call the police immediately. when they arrive make a statement, then follow up with a report to the station the next day. after a few of these you could probably get a restraining order, which would mean he can no longer attend class or take exams in the same building as you.

or you could man up and not take any bullsh*t from him. he won't actually beat you up unless he is an idiot.

OP. do NOT get into an altercation with this person. The above users are right, the best course of action is to inform the administration and authorities (especially if it escalates). Professional schools do not take this stuff lightly.

Eyes, throat, groin.

Takes these 3 words to heart. They might save your life.

Thats not really going to help over there. The school admin is your only hope of getting out of an unsafe situation.[/QUOTE]

How do you figure that? So the school dismesses this supposedly violent person who "threatened" the OP for asking him to keep it down a little, what do you think this violent person will do once his dreams of becoming a doctor have been shattered? 😱

I was born in one of those places and i'm telling you that the police will not act unless if you have been physically harmed. Its NOT America.
They dont have the same definition of assault as we do. So if i was the OP, i would either move of report this person to the school cos police aint gonna do **** for you over there.

I once went through the same thing, however, I didn't record an audio like you did OP. Instead, I just learned to live with the guy and ignored him. If it really gets bad, then go the housing office. They always help in situations like this.

just rub a few habenero peppers on his toilet paper. problem solved.

In addition to the suggestions others have made, buy a baseball bat and pepper spray too.

Guys aren't as tough as they used to be. Don't you realize the chance you have in this situation? If movies have taught me anything, it's that when the little nerdy guy knocks out the bigger tougher guy, he gets the girl!

K, my suggestion is to get the **** of the island as soon as possible.

To do this, you will need to begin training as a sprinter. When you become good enough to visit sprinting events, you will be able to make contacts. Hopefully at some point, you will be able to recruit a fellow sprinter to be your compadre. Next, you will need a local bartender with dreads, as well as a boy with a rich father to join your crew.

From that point the rest is simple. If you can convince an ex-alcoholic Canadian trainer to coach you and your friends into bobsledding, you will have found an easy ticket off of the island within the next 3 years when the winter olympics takes place in Russia.

Good luck.

Yeah hopefully SGU helped you this situation. Its sucks to be in a Caribbean school because the students have turned the famous Vegas slogan around into "What happens on the island stays on the island".

This.

My idea of what happened is that the guy told OP to get his nerdy *** out of his face or he'd do it himself.

OP, I suggest taking it easy pestering this guy about noise. If he's causing a disturbance there should be others who are disturbed and you all should go to the building management to have them take care of it.

Stronger people do not like being told what to do by weaklings.

Being this is SDN where most things are blown out of proportion...I am siding with the "bully" is this instance. The OP is probably just being melodramatic and is off his meds. 🙄

Physically go to the police station and file a police report in writing. This is just general good advice regardless of whether or not the post is genuine. You always want to have a record of things. Of course, I wouldn't do this unless I REALLY felt that the person was dangerous.

You should also know that in some states it is illegal to record a conversation without the consent of all parties involved.

OP is not in a state. OP, I'm curious as to what the guy said to you? bc some people's definition of assault is very different.

I had some problems with noisy neighbors in our apartment complex. I had to tell them to turn the sub-woofer down many times. At this point for you, i'd consider talking to some person in authority, as in the person who actually owns the building you live in. Now for ANYONE who assaults (physical harm with no means of escapement etc) me or my wife or family etc, I correlate that to them suffering from Acute Lead Deficiency (ALD), and I have the cure for that, 127grains of vitamin L.

I'm also a SGU student, and I'm willing to offer you protection if the dough is right. PM if interested.
