Has anyone else gotten an assignment already. I got one in the mail a month ago to read the first two chapters in Grays Anatomy for students and to read the first dissection. Learning everything about the back without being taught anything is really tough. To be honest Im worried, because it says there is a quiz.

i was sent a 160 page basic immunology book and told to read it if i haven't had any background knowledge of immunology. luckily i have, so i'm not going to read it.

Geez, what schools are you guys going to?

Kaz-

I was just thinking the EXACT same thing. Stony Brook faculty told us NOT to "pre-study", so I'm following their orders. Three weeks in San Jose to think about how much I'll love learning Biochemistry is just what the doctor ordered!

To those that have to study, good luck with it - it probably is doing some good, right?

Yay to SUNYs for letting us enjoy our pre-M1 summers! 😀

We had a few chapters to read but it was review material of like cell biology and genetics from the text, mol bio of the cell.. i think it was mostly for non-sci majors who didn't have the background

Loyola doesn't beat around the bush with summer reading and immunology texts. They just start the real thing in the middle of the summer. Orientation starts on Monday! I haven't heard of anywhere else that starts earlier, but I haven't been looking hard.

Baylor's orientation starts on Monday also. Our actual first day of class is Aug. 1st. Some schools like UTMB have a summer program for incomming MS1s.

Oooh... ouch! Then again, I Texas is practically another country... do they really count? 😉

Wash U put up a biochem quiz on the web site and told us to read the first 6 chapters of the biochem book if we can't do well on the quiz. As I've never taken a biochem or cell bio class, I didn't bother taking the quiz, just ordered the book and planned to read it next week on the beach!
