Program-Specific Info / Q's AT Still-2016/17 Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was just curious if any other perspective DOT students are worried about the program not being accredited. I know its in the process of becoming accredited, but there's no guarantee. I'm getting a litter nervous about that and am contemplating switching into the masters program! If for whatever reason, the program didn't get accredited, we wouldn't be able to sit for the NBCOT exam....
Just wanted to know where people stood on this!
Thanks!

Someone posted a thread "Don't go to A.T. Still" and had some concerning information about their experience with the program moving from quarters to semesters. Makes me really nervous to attend now... I loved the school when I interviewed and this is the only place (so far) that I've been accepted to. Still waiting on a couple other schools. My hope is that AT Still can get their classes together for our cohort, but the current student(s) don't feel confident about that.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to be attending ATSU for DOT I'm staying hopefully and thinking about how the masters program is accredited which is a good sign for DOT. For the change to semesters I'm trying to think maybe that could be good because we start in July go until December that could mean overall more material in that time but at a smaller pace maybe

Some concerns about the switch to semesters was the unexpected adding and dropping of classes and students in the dark about field placement. It's apparently been chaos for both MOT and DOT. I don't know... makes me nervous

I agree, I too feel a bit nervous about the recent concerns voiced about the conversion to semesters, however I'm leaning on the fact that they've been in pretty good shape until this... as far as I know anyway... So heres to hoping they can get back on track towards that.

Hey has anyone who plans on attending ATSU for the fall 2017 cohort done anything yet about FASFA? or filled out any financial info for the school? I plan on attending, however I'm still weighing out my options with other programs instate (CA)
I also haven't done the health screenings/criminal background check and wanted to see if other students who were planning on attending had completed any of that stuff!
lastly: does anyone know anything about AZ health insurance? I will be moving from CA and need to find new Health Insurance. ATSU doesn't offer student health INS, so I was curious what other students were planning on doing. 🙂 thanks guys!

Hey! I am a current student here at ATSU and I still have my health insurance in CA. Before I moved out here, I let my insurance company know that I will be living in AZ for school and they made a note on my profile. I hope that helps!

Hi! I'm still waiting on an instate school too but I did fill out the FAFSA for all my potential schools back in November. I would definitely fill that out. But they do require 2015 info instead of 2016. It's kind of wonky that way this year. After I designated my schools in FAFSA, ATSU sent me an email that they received it. As far as health insurance, I plan to stay on my dad's plan and notify them that I would be moving. My husband has insurance from New Mexico and uses it in Washington so I wouldn't worry about having to change insurance unless they tell you otherwise.
As far as background check and health record, I won't do that until Late April or May after I make my final decision. I believe our acceptance package said they need everything a month prior.

My husband and I will both be leaving our jobs which provide us with health insurance so we'll have to get new coverage. I just didn't know if I should be looking for a plan specific to AZ or if I should try to enroll in a CA plan (im not sure if it even matters) I got an email from atsu reminding me to fill out my FA info...so I should probably get on that this weekend! thanks for the info!

Hi! I'm currently going through this coming rounds of application! And I recently received my invite for interview at ATSU. I was wondering how it was like, and what should I be prepared for?
