Well, here it is March already and things are not looking good. I doubt I'll be going to med school this year, but now what? Do I reapply again to U.S. med schools or do I look for a decent foreign school? What are my options? How many of you applied more than once before you got into med school?
I'm not sure applying a second time will be worth the wait and expense.

Should I repeat myself. But seriously, don't do it.

You've applied once, didn't get in, and now are ready to give up?????

When I went thru the application process, I was told that 30-40% of the acceptances are 2nd and 3rd time applicants. If you truly want to get into medicine, you cannot be so easily pushed over. Medicine can be hard, tiresome, frustrating and at times yes, even boring. You have got to be prepared for this and not give up at disappointment.

Keep trying. You can do it if you truly want it. It took me 2 tries to get in, and I was prepared to go a third round if necessary. Don't give up.

Good advise on trying again. However, I might add that reapplying with the SAME application is often futile.

Go over your app with a fine-toothed comb and try to pinpoint the areas of weakness and most importantly THOSE THAT YOU CAN CHANGE.

Do not be shy about calling up a school (especially one you've perhaps interviewed at and been rejected from) and asking for some advice about why you didn't get it/how you can improve your app, etc.

Make sure your app is a strong as it can be before reapplying - sometimes this entails taking time off to retake the MCAT, take more courses, get stronger letters or experience, etc.

best of luck to you...
