So I've already applied this cycle but Im afraid that Its possible that I may not get in. I know its really early to be having these thoughts and Im willing to accept that Im just being paranoid, but I always like to be prepared for worst case scenario. I'm going to be a 4th year at a major university in California. My GPA is pretty average sGPA: 3.5, cGPA: 3.54 BCP: 3.6, but i'm afraid that my DAT is going to cause some problems. 20TS 19AA (20RC but 17QR) and 18PAT.

I have a ton of community service, shadowing, and really good research experience, so all Im really worried about is my DAT. At what point during the cycle should I begin to start studying for the DAT again? Is it worth it to try and re take it again before before the cycle ends, ( im eligible for a re-take in october), or should I just play it out until about march to see if I hear back? (I applied fairly broadly)

19-20 DAT is 85th-90th percentile. It's a solid score lol unless you're aiming for a top tier ivy dental school you'll be fine.

I just want to get in lol, not really concerned about where. The only reason I even had any doubts is because while i was on the phone with a school to follow up the status of Rec letters, she insisted that in order to be competitive that I needed a 19-20 in every section (I didnt even ask her to look at my stats, she just took it upon herself)

Damn. If that's the case I might as well retake my 23 because of PAT. I think you're fine and will get some interviews. Your GPA is a solid amount better than mine. If you really want to retake the DAT you can ask me what I did/look through my two threads if you want.

Naw, im pretty sure you are solid, thats an awesome score regardless of the PAT. I think this applies more to me just because my academic average is a little low at 19. I should have clarified that the lady who I spoke with was speaking specifically to be competitive for that school. Thanks for the tips though I appreciate it.

Much too early to begin thinking about retaking the DAT with your stats.
