can someone explain why atropine will not treat bradycardia in a patient on amiodarone? thanks

I found a resource that states, "amiodarone reduces sinus node automaticity and may cause atropine-resistant sinus bradycardia". Therefore, guidelines state to treat amiodarone induced bradycardia with a decrease in dose or insertion of a pacemaker.
