Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on the difference and your opinion/advice.
ACOM
pros:
- state closer to my state
- great curriculum- lecture style and board prep
- cheaper in tuition and living costs
- good board scores and match list
- Good sim lab
- exam every 2 weeks
ACOM
Cons:
- in a small town (im more of a city person)
- a notable attrition rate I heard?
- grading A,B,C,F
- would need to live alone aside haven’t met anyone yet
ATSU-SOMA
pros:
- P/F curriculum
- in a city close to pheonix
- pretty diverse class and area
- loved my interview and the people were amazing, students seemed really happy
- good board scores and match lists seems pretty even split between Primary care and other specialities
- found a roommate and met most of the class
- didn’t hear of any noticeable attrition rate
- dress code seems pretty relaxed
Cons:
- PBL curriculum (am usually a lecture person so this makes me a little nervous)
- exam every 5 weeks?
- higher tuition and cost of living
- no sim lab
- pretty far from home, cant do 3rd year rotation in my state but maybe 4th year.
Overall, I loved my interviews at both and so grateful for the opportunity at both. I am just unsure of some things and would like some advice. Thank you!
