ATSU SOMA
Pros
  • -- Close to home
  • -- Strong match list

Cons
  • -- I've heard some negative things about this school, rotation sites, as well as swapping back to the 2+2 but I'm unsure how negative these things are in the grand scheme of things.
  • -- Heavy OMM but as expected from an OG DO school, worried about the group learning aspect

BCOM
Pros
  • -- Felt like a great atmosphere, very supportive students and staff
  • -- traditional lectures vs group learning

Cons
  • -- Very far from an airport (50 miles away)
  • -- Unsure about strength of matching

Summary: I understand that matching is also VERY dependent on the student, but I would prefer a school that would make it easier if I were to choose a route that involves specializing. I understand that MD would make this route easier, however, this is the harder road I've been blessed the opportunity for and would strive as hard as I can to make this work. Thankfully, I'm very fortunate to not need to take loans for school, so finances of both schools are not a concern. I'm mostly just interested in which school would be a better chance for me to match as well as one that supports their students during their medical school years.

BCOM.

ATSU Soma has been going THROUGH IT, they are losing a lot of rotation sites and this new curriculum has been botched entirely.
