All right ladies and gentlemen,

I wanted to start a thread that is useful for me, and potentially for you too.

Requirements: you must be in the 11/10 mailing from AADSAS. I was hoping to start a thread to keep us late applicants updated on what happens to those folks that are a little later in the game.

Has anyone in this mailing gotten and interview yet? An acceptance?

I'm sitting on two interviews and 8 N/A's. I'd love to know what sort of chances I have, and I am sure if you are in this position that you would as well.

My application was submitted to AADSAS on Oct. 30th and was sent to schools Nov. 21st. I just got my first interview invite today by phone. I never expected to hear so soon.

My stats:

3.20 gpa ( 3.72 over the last 3 semesters)
3.36 science gpa

i was in the 11/10 mailing i got interview at stony brook, buffalo, BU, UPENN, and UCONN all this month except BU its in march why so damn late.

I send in my stuff to addsas 12/1, any idea how soon i can expect my interviews?
DAT 20/20/15 last one is PAT
I dont' know what gpa aadsas will give but it's around 3.3
 
i sent in my stuff earlier but the entire appplication was only complete 11/20, and from what i understand schools only review your application once the entire application is complete.

If you have not heard from a dental school call them up and ask about the status of your application. it seems to get things moving--> have no idea how or why?

If you have an interview invite you may be able to bump up during this period before school closes. I was told a certain number of students back out of their dates if they get accpted to their 1st choice school, and some back out due to the coming up finals. SO you may get lucky. ---> only way to find out is by calling.

AADSAS sends out your application to schools about 5 weeks after you submit the application. So, you are looking at the 1st week of January before the schools look at your stuff.
 
I waited until 10/28 to submit mine so I doubt i was in the 11/10 mailing, but here are my stats anyway.

Being in 11/10 mailing is not too late if you have above average grades.

Just a suggestion: It would be nice to open this thread to those who are in 11/10 mailing AND after.

I hope that anyone that applied thereafter would join the thread as well. It's kind of stressful to be in this situation. AADSAS really screwed me over because I turned my application in on the 7th of SEPTEMBER.

Jes, can you share what happened to your application? i submitted mine on Sep 13th, and the schools had it 4 weeks later.
 
You asked, so here is my whiny rampage...

Well, there was some error with my essay and it didn't get turned in. I called multiple times and no one told me that my essay had not been turned in. Until about six weeks after I turned it in, I called and someone told me that I hadn't turned my essay in. I was like, "hell, i didn't." Well, this organization pretty much screwed me out of getting into many schools and was completely unapologetic about it. I'm waiting to see if I get an acceptance before I demand to get my money back from the organization itself, then the BBB. I mean, I think they wouldn't process my application next year if I caused a huge ruckus.

My other friend from Grinnell who is applying (and turned his application in two days after mine) has three interviews and that kind of irritates me. Although I hope that he gets in (and I know he will).

I got an interview for the alternate list at Case (i would have been able to interview for a real acceptance if my application wasn't late). I asked a lady at Case if they would reconsider that decision if I got an apology from AADSAS. She's pretty much like people complain about them all of the time and no matter how much we whine, I won't do a darned thing for you.

So that puts me in line to go to UMKC next year (a good school, but not my dream school---definitely not a dream location). I work adjacent to the building, know most people on the admissions committee and they are more sympathetic. I feel that I might have had the qualifications to get a chance at UPenn (dream school) even, but not because my application is late. I mean, I had a chance with the general pool, they only accept exceptional people after Dec 1st. Although I would like to think that I am exceptional, I realize that I would be an average Penn student.

So that's my story.

Oh yeah. AADSAS also lost the letter from the chair of the health professions advisory committee at Grinnell. And I know this man would never send a cover letter without the actual letter.

My point is that AADSAS is a large corporate monopoly that is poorly organized. And my education might suffer because of it.

Any advice...Should I send letters to all the schools? I think that would just make me look like a whiny loser.
 
I didn't get mine submitted until Nov 16, and just got an email from them that it is complete, but won't be sent to schools for 15 days. My number for those interested was 6644. Here's my stats:
Sci GPA-3.18
Overall-3.25
DAT-20/19/18
Applied-UMKC, UNMC, Creighton
For what I'm hearing, timing may keep me out as well 🙁 .

if you even want a chance at UMKC contact Dianne Beard ASAP. I think they might have already scheduled most, if not all, of their interviews. seeing that you are nearby, you should try to get an appointment with her.

I just talked to her and she said it's probably too late. They started sending letters out last week to people saying that thier applications were too late, and all of thier interviews are full! 🙁 Looks like Lincoln or Omaha then.

I just got an interview invite from UCSF today by email.

Still heard nothing from USC, UOP or UCLA.

Last year I applied around dec 15ish via regular mail. My number was 6304, so there are MORE applicants this year than last, so far.

i just got an interview at BU!
i thought i was out of luck.

i found out because I received an e-mail about open interview times; i called to confirm that i had been invited for an interview; they said that my info was on the way.
 
hey guys i sent my appliction in on the 28th and it was sent to schools on the 21st. I just got my letters from the schools requesting my additional info ( letters of rec and such). Wondering if anyone else applied at a similar time and has heard anything from IU.

bu and case interviews

could anyone please provide us with some info on if it is worth going to the case interview which is now only for alternate position? stats, opinions, experiences

Hey Rezdawg, you had same interviewer as mine from Ut-houston. forgot his name, one from columbia.
 
Larry, the guy I had was Dr. Pate. He was an oral and maxillofacial surgery professor. Cool guy.
 
i'm glad about the interview, but with the good come bad. i got a rejection from iowa. it could only be expected due to aadsas delaying my application for two months unnecessarily, causing it to miss the deadline.

One of my college friend is will be applying on Dec 31th. His DAT is in the morning of that day. Do you think it is even possible to get accepted at this time? Here are his stats:

DAT: to be taken Dec 31th
Science 3.44
Overall 3.24

He asked me to post this question here. What do you say?

Good news is that it is never too late before the deadline.
But his chance is getting slimmer everyday.
What I would do is to call individual school and explain your situation and see what they say.
I know some schools have already pretty much filled their class and some schools are quite slow. So, it is very important to apply to school strategically.

i really don't think that it is too late. with that being said, i also think that it will depend on how he does on his DAT.
i think you would get a much better response once you post his DAT scores.

remember, Aphistis applied very late (like your friend) last year and got into IUSD. not that this will happen to everyone, but the point is that it is not too late. lets hope he does well on his DAT. his GPA is very good and competitive.
 
First I believe you can apply without your DAT scores and send them directly to the schools when yoou get them. Tell him/her to send in his ap ASAP. Then just fax or mail the schools his/her scores. Also where is your friend looking at applying?

Your friend has good stats (depending on his dat scores). In all honesty, I think his late application will hurt his chances to get in. I'm not saying he'll be rejected for sure, but saying that he would have a higher chance of acceptance if he applied earlier.

iudentist04, how is it advantageous to apply, even without the DAT scores? I guess, I should tell him to get his application in!!

The advantage to applying, even without your DAT scores, is that the school will have your application and all they will need are you DAT scores to make it complete. It takes the AADSAS about 2-3 weeks to get your ap to your schools after you send it to them. So if you don't apply until the 31st then they won't get your ap until the 3rd week or so of Jan. I hope this helps. Also someone correct me if I am wrong.
 
From my experience, it took AADSAS 5 weeks to get my application to the schools. A few other I have talked to experienced the same thing. So, if you get your application in on the 31st, schools may not even receive it until the 2nd week of February. It could get dangerous at that point.
 
Guys I don't know if you knew this or not I just wanted to tell you this anyway. It depends on the school how long our application takes.
I applied to 5 schools 3 of which I haven't even heard from yet, i mean nothing not even a poster saying "HI there dear applicant thanks for sending us your check and application" I have tried calling, especially Stony but no answer. While other schools like UCONN and COlumbia I already got interview. I am very pissed at Stony, but like always some places are more organized than others. I wish everyone luck in the admissions process
 
I'm in....I got an acceptance from Detroit. I was in the 11/21 AADSAS mailing, my interview was last week, and I got my acceptance today!!!
