Do you take your lunch breaks every day? And your 15 minute breaks? Most of the pharmacists I've spoken too are too busy and end up skipping their lunch breaks most of the time.... and rarely take their 15 minute breaks. How common is this? I know it sounds trivial, but that trend would seriously kill my motivation and have me feeling like crap. 😛 My previous office jobs made it mandatory to take every break to prevent us from burning out.

Would you consider a person that took their lunch break and 15 minute breaks every day a bad team player? 😳

They take our lunch breaks pretty seriously at our pharmacy, so we have to take our 45 minute lunch (as a tech) and 30 minutes for pharmacists. We're supposed to get two 15 minute breaks but no one ever takes them, but no one really can stop you if you want to take the breaks

Ah, I've just started a new job as a tech/summer intern at the VA and man oh man are they serious about breaks there! In the morning we have to write down when we want to take our two fifteen minute breaks and our lunch and when it is time...you just go. No matter what's going on, except in very extreme circumstances. It is a WELCOME change.

At my pharmacy all techs take their 30 minute lunch. Pharmacists usually take a 30 minute lunch unless it's pretty busy. On the weekends there is only one pharmacist, so obviously no lunch break, but they can usually manage a snack while working.

In California it's against the law to miss a lunch (or to make the phrase more realistic, if you are not allowed a break within the first 5 hours of your shift the employer is required to provide 1 hours wages for each infraction) I got over 3K in back "wages" because of this last year. CA supreme court just ruled that statute of limitations is three years since it involves wages, as opposed to 1 year for "penalties". Which means I'll be getting more back "wages" sometime this year or early next😀 (corporate bureaucracy will determine how soon)🙄

Yep - everyone in CA gets lunch ..... 30 min (I take 45- whatever!).

If no lunch - all time after 4-1/2 or 5 hrs (depends on the agreement) is OT.

Breaks - you fit them in anytime...
