I saw online that the American University of Antigua (AUA) is having financial aid problems because they've been placed on the U.S. Department of Education's Heightened Cash Monitoring (HCM) list since September 2023, specifically on Level 2 due to a "Program Review."
This means that the Dept of Ed is finding serious issues with the school's administration or financial management, which could affect the disbursement of federal student aid. They're the only school in the Caribbean on HCM2.
Does anyone know what's really going on? I've read posts about students not receiving aid until after the semester or having aid reduced unexpectedly. Even students being told to apply for private loans instead of Title IV.
Posts on some of the other boards keep getting deleted.
