I'm imagining this has been discussed somewhere else, but I can't seem to find the thread. I'm thinking it would be nice to have some audio CD's to study with, and I've heard mention of a few different ones...but is there a summary of the various options out there and/or opinions of them somewhere?

I'm also not sure about spending several hundred dollars on audio CDs when I can get review books for less...could someone point me in the direction of a discussion about whether the audio CDs are worth it? If no one's really talked about this before, do any of you have opinions on those kinds of CDs (Kaplan, Goljan?, etc)?

Thanks! I just started thinking about studying for boards, and they're coming up soon (8-9 wks), so I know I've got to hurry...but I don't know much about the basics of what to use to study (I'm going to check out this board some more, of course).

i've heard good things about the gojlan audio cds, but they are 40 hours long!!! that's a lot of time! i take the exam may 30. if anyone did buy the gojlan audio cds, how much did they help, how did you go through them, and did you actually finish?

thanks so much

🙂

Goljan audio is EXTREMELY high yield and a good change of pace when studying. HIGHLY receommended. Just put it on in the background while you're making dinner, in the car, and it becomes a good use of your time. Rapid review is also great (heard the new one is coming out this summer....if u can wait, probably best to do so) and seems to follow the audio well.

email [email protected] and she'll send you the goljan audio and notes for a nominal ($12) fee. doktok.com also has them, but it can be a pain in the arse to get them to download. GOOD luck!

I second the Goljan audio. You will be suprised how many hours you can listen to just by playing it in your car etc. I loaded them all up on my mp3 player and listen whenever I am driving, walking, excercising etc. You can probably get through the 40 hours in a couple of weeks just by listen to them in your 'down time'., especially if you have to commute any distance. Also, the notes follow along very very closely. I finally printed them out and wish I had done so earlier.

I've seen the goljan CDs all over the place, ranging from $.99 to $30.. are they out of production now, and everybody selling copies w/o any interference from the company?

Has anyone purchased from this drsarahsmith person?

The goljan audio is illegal (it was recorded by a student at one of Goljan's USMLE reviews a few years ago) - so no company is selling them. There are plenty of free copies floating around to be donwloaded; whether you buy them or get them for free, they're all the same lectures.
