Audio Osmosis

I was considering buying this b/c I have long commutes to work and thought instead of just listening to the radio, I could be studying. Glad to know that it works! 🙂
i got it recently, and love it! i am currently taking orgo (just finished #1, on to #2 next week), and found it easy to listen to, and that i began to say the stuff along with jordan and john. so far, i've only really listened to orgo, but i highly recommend them!
how do you guys actually use audio osmosis? I am still having a hard time using them. I listen to them, and for the parts that seem to go by really quickly, ill listen to again, but my mind just keeps wandering off and i feel like im not really using them like i should. How do you guys listen to them? (besides the obvious, of just listening)...hah thanks

Anyone know when a new edition is coming out? Its like 5 years old and I know they recently came out with a new edition of books, but not AO.

i had this problem too, but i was surprised that while i thought my mind was wondering, i actually was remembering things they said. i mainly listen in the car, sometimes at the gym on my ipod too though.
if you get to the point where you're really not listening, turn it off. there are times where i just need to sing loudly, and not hear jordan or jon rambling. but for the most part, just try to absorb it.
the physics section is really long, and i havent started on it yet (even though i should), but i liked the organic section alot.

Research has proven that in order for osmosis to be MOST effective, you should be directing all of your attention to the actual audio. In other words, it is unlikely that you will achieve the best results by listening to it while working out at the gym, or driving.. etc..

I understand. The only thing im worried about is the known errors in the recordings. In the books its not such a big deal as you can simply cross them out however listening to errors over and over, its not so easy to adjust. There are not as many errors in AO as in the actual book sets (according to the EK website of known errors) but you would think that for $200 they could at least fix the errors and put out a new edition as they did with the books.

It is a lot easier for the company to change a few words and reprint a book than it is to re-record errors (and make it sound decent)....since they are in the business to make as much money as possible, they are going to prolly stretch the timing between editions out as long as they can.

For what its worth...
Examkrackers (EK) and Audio Osmosis (AO) are great! I used it and the EK complete study set (v5) all summer before the August MCAT and my score went up 8 points (25 > 33). I wouldnt even bother with anything else (except for all the AAMC tests available, of course), no prep set is perfect, but for me EK was a good investment. I found it to be much more user-friendly than Kaplan.
Contrary to the supposed research that has been done I only listened to AO while running or driving. You'll be surprised how much you can get out of it, but I would dare say that listening to a lecture only once will have limited impact (obviously?). I probably listened to all the lectures at least 3 times. I know that seems ridiculous, but I run a lot and the lectures aren't that long. Sometimes you go crazy listening to Young's Modulus crap while trying to workout and you have to put on some real music. Some of the physics can be tough to follow while doing other things but its fairly easy to follow along with orgo and bio.
As far as errors and new versions of AO, I would not be too concerned with the errors, there really are few considering the volume of material, and you can look them up on the EK website (http://www.examkrackersforum.com/viewforum.php?f=31). As a previous poster suggested I would not expect a new edition of AO anytime soon, if ever. I can't imagine how long it must take to record each lecture. If you get it you will realize how much there is and why they are in no hurry to do it again. Its not like there is a competing product, and the basic science for the MCAT hasn't really changed significantly since the original release. I highly recommend AO, especially if you can borrow it from a friend!
