I asked this as a mention on separate post, but thought it deserved its own thread.

What portion of hospitals don't use VSAS? Do they tend to be in a specific specialty or geographic area? Or is it just a bunch of random ones you kind of find out about when researching residencies?

Osteopathic programs don't use VSAS.
Smaller programs are less likely to use VSAS although some do.
I am not aware of any geographic pattern other than the fact that places not near major cities are likely to host smaller programs, and are less likely to use VSAS.
I am not aware of any patterns of VSAS use based on specialty. Usually if the hospital uses VSAS, all of the specialties at the site are on it.

Great, thanks for answering.

NYU doesn't use VSAS either, so you have to contact the department you're interested in rotating with THEN mailing in your application.
