so i took during the course of the sumer i studied and came across sdn and read up on people dat experiences each day and heard about this piano test and that its a really tough version of the dat...i would joke with my friends and family that I would get that test and we would laugh thinking yea right what are the chances? wellllllllllllllll the second RC came up and i read the title of my passage saying PIANO i felt my heart drop and thinking ohhhhhhhhhhhh nooooo! ANywayssss i ended up with an AA 17 and welll i guess i gotta retake in november...i was thinking about reading up on piano's the night before but i was like ehh whats the point...i wish i had...math sucked also did pretty good in sciences...i feel like my summer went to nothingness classes start in less than a week..i cant believe i have another to look at these books for another 3 months..🙁

Well, first of all sorry about your DAT.
But this is a standardized test...as much as people claim this to be a hard version, it isn't. It is made so that all the versions are about the same. Also, there are only a few versions, so it isn't that unlikely to get it.

I have heard the same thing about the tests being standardized. From your understanding of this, does that mean a tough RC like piano is balanced with an easier QR or science categories?

It isn't balanced with other sections. It is balanced within the other two passages which are easy.
All versions have one tough one and 2 easy ones. Mine was like this. I think I got half wrong on the "tough" passage and none wrong on the others. Hope this helped.

For your retake, since you've been on sdn a lot, stay away from it. I think it might hurt you more than help you. Don't let these kids get to your head. We are all the same age as you, and know just as much as you. The piano is too hyped and you need to go in being as confident as possible.

Like the post above, the piano passage has been hyped to a point where once people receive the version they all panic. It's like they already gave up before even reading the passage for themselves. It is only hard because those people only utilize the S&D method. The piano passage is mostly tone/inference questions. You need to read the passages for comprehension and stop trying to find a easy way out. A crap load of SNDners failed miserably on piano with S&D, learn from their mistakes.

What passage did u have on this test cause i am gonna retake on November and i didn't do well on the RC either.

Piano is definitely on a different level than the other passages, but I thought the other 2 were easy enough to make up for it.

I managed to get a 20, my surprise was with the PAT, after scoring 20's on CRACKDAT I got a 17, and it seemed easy, I guess I was just off.

yes, i do think that the other 2 passages were easy, however you have to remember the piano passage first of all is a bit longer(lengthwise) and the questions are much more time consuming...therefore you are more rushed for the last 2 easy passages and not doing aswell as you could have potentially done ( I am speaking for myself, other may not feel the same way) i ended up guessing the last couple of questions since i ran out of time.

As far as other sections being easier to compensate..no i think they were pretty average as far as hardness is concerned. i guess i just need to stay positive and do my best for the retake...🙁

I thought the other 2 passages were exteremly easy. Honestly....I think I got most of the questions right on the other two and missed ALl 17 questions on the piano passage
