Congrats to all those who took the PCAT and have lived to tell about it.

I for one got caught in the chemistry test traps. Other students gasped when the proctor announced there was 5 minutes left. I'll probably have to retake the exam just for that section. I learned my lesson and played hopscotch on the quant section. Live and learn to emerge victorious another day.

Nice to know I'm not the only one. I really hit the jets at that point.

Point to make: Our proctors eyeballed the time for us. This was mostly fine, but they shorted us 40 seconds on chemistry.

Not happy about that.

i was probably one of the people that gasped at 5 mins on chem.. haha
first time taking it, i would say i learned and will do better next time but i'm hoping my other sections make up for it :xf:

The writing was manageable.

I was surprised that the some of the vocab sections (analogy) were the same exact ones as the one from Dr. Collin's study guide. I didn't find enough time to go over it so I only skimmed it once last night.

I was able to finish the chemistry section within time. I practiced 5 tests from Dr. Collin's study guide. A few questions were similar to Dr. Collin's.

I finished the biology section within time. It wasn't too hard.

I was blown away with the math section. Didn't have enough time to finish all the questions, so towards the end, I answered the easy looking problems.

The reading section was too long. By the end of the last passage, my brain was hurting. I was able to finish it in time.

I felt like biology was the hardest for me, mine had a lot of plant-related biology that wasn't even covered in the kaplan book. 😡. And i must've been in an exceptionally prepared class because on most sections the majority of others in the room were finished before the time expired (except me, of course)

anyone else freaking out right now because they think they did bad on the exam and are wondering what they are going to do with their life now if they don't get into pharmacy school? I'm at that stage now after taking the test this morning

I managed the time consideralbbly well. For the first essay question, I rushed the conclusion a bit and I didn't go back to revise. But, I finished everything else in time. Bio was ok but I had to guess on a few questions.

I also had 24A.. everything seemed managable this time around..except for biology.

The questions (most) were long and some of them I had no idea on the topics studying from Kaplan and collins. =[

I really hope this section doesn't mess me up and causes me to have to retake it again..

i get so nervous about something happening that would make me late! I got there like 45 minutes early...which was good because this parking lot was closed off and I had like a 15min walk. I start thinking...what if my car breaks down on the way, or there is a bad accident or traffic. and i set 2 alarms. There was no way I wasn't gonna make it!

That's kinda how I feel! But we won't know for sure until we get the results...maybe we had some good guesses! : )

Someone at my test showed up at 8:45, while everyone was already checked in and just sitting there waiting for the proctor to give us directions. They still let him take it. I personally was a little pissed, as I had to drive 2+ hours to get there and showed up 30 minutes early... so much for rules.

Man, I was ready to park next to a stop sign or fire hydrant if I had to and just pay the ticket. There was plenty of parking space though =)

This one guy's admission ticket flew out the window while he was driving! The gang at the test-taking center were gravy about it. They let him use the computer to print out another one. Cool in my book.

They didn't have a seat for me at first. Pearson's apparently sent them a new list with more students sOo...I had to wait until they gave me a seat of someone who failed to show up. .

IT was my first time taking the PCAT

did anyone feel the AUG 09 pcat was unusually easier than the rest of them?

or did you feel the level of difficulty were about the same for pcats in the past (for those who have taken the PCAT more than once)

i definitely wasn't prepared for the quant. it kicked my ass all up and down the page. As mentioned somewhere above, I guess I missed that day in Bio where we covered the classification of leaf type?? Chem was managable, verbal and reading was a breeze, as were the essays. so i guess we'll see.. i'm definitely taking it again in Oct though!

I would freak out if my ticket flew out the window! lol that is funny though!

The reading section was too long. By the end of the last passage, my brain was hurting. I was able to finish it in time.

On the reading I finished with like 12 minutes to spare and sat around staring at the ceiling. Of course that is balanced out by the chem and math sections where I did not get to a bunch of it and randomly guessed for a bunch at the end.

The last time I took it was oct 2006 and I did great on the chem then (93) and horrible on the bio (66). I think those two just flipped. I did good on the math (84) though I remember not finishing all of it. I do not know how I did so great on the chem last time- I was probably one of the people who gasped when they said 5 minutes left (maybe because I had just finished taken chem the year before when I took it).

I might end up taking it over. It would really help if we got our scores before the oct registration deadline 😡

I must have taken a different test than all of you. I thought math and chem were the easiest sections on the whole test (although the latter was certainly more difficult than it was on the June PCAT). Bio was significantly easier than it was in June. I only struggled on the reading (the topics bored the CRAP out of me and my mind wasn't in the mood for reading) and essay topics (for very similar reasons).

Overall, I definitely think I improved on the 84 composite I got in June. Hopefully enough to get me to my goal of > 90.

Hey Planning to take the exam in October.. i was looking for collin's updated notes.. do you think you would be able to sell it down .. I am looking for notes and exams.. let me know

thought everything was decent except for the Quantitative. I feel like it kicked my tail in the worst way! I was only halfway through when she announced that we only had five mins left, so I just bubbled in random things for the ones that I did not get to

writing: the topics were wayyy more straightforward and simple than some of the sample topics I read

verbal: I was SHOCKED at how many were the same as dr collin's. it was a huge help and a huge confidence booster to knock out a bunch of questions of the bat.

bio: a few were from dr. collin's. most of them weren't terrible but some were just RIDICULOUS. like the pictures of the leaves (wtf?!) and the super in-depth one about taxol. ughhh and the one about botulinum drove me insane. botulinum causes tetanus--based on that the answer would have been one option, but based on the description in the question the answer would have been a different option.

reading: none of the passages were difficult to understand but some of the questions were bull****. like one said "which is a paraphrased opinion of the author".. well only one of the answer options was an opinion, the others were all facts.. but that one opinion was the total opposite of the author's opinion. wtf.

chem: ridiculous. I suck at general chem but I'm good at organic, and to me it felt like there was nowhere near 40% organic (though I'm sure people who are bad at orgo probably felt like it was 90% orgo). I guessed on so many.

quant: um this was ridiculous for me, and I've always been good at math (though I haven't taken any math in a couple years). I went through only doing the ones I though I could do quickly and I still didn't even get to the last page. So I ended up guessing on sooooooooooo many.
