Hi,
I've been out of college for some years and studying for the MCAT now. I've realized I forgot pretty much everything :'(. My gen chem is pretty fuzzy but the physics and orgo I completely forgot :/ (psych, social, and bio/biochem are okay- they need brushing up but not like the other subjects). I really really want to/need to take the mcat before this summer.

What would be the most effective way to re-learn content (from the beginning)? I work full time but am free Fridays-Sundays so I can allocate heavy duty studying to those days. The problem is I don't know where to start- free open ware classes? textbooks? mcat books/prep materials? Please advise (Especially anyone who has been in similar/same situations). Any and all details - specifically the names of books/study materials that were beneficial for people who forgot..everything will be very appreciated.

Thank you so much

How long has it been?

Examkrackers is less detailed and more for people who are already strong in the sciences I believe.

Kaplan and Princteon Review I think are the other two main ones and they are more detailed so they may be better for you.

You could also look at some schedules people have posted and they tell you what books/study materials to use. You could just follow their schedule.

There are users who've been out of school for 10+ yrs and forgot the material..for me....just a few yrs :/..Because it's just been a few years, I think it would look really bad transcript wise if I were to retake them. I'm going to go ahead and order Kaplan and PR- what about TBR? Do you think sticking to one of the schedules would be enough for someone who's very very weak in the physical sciences?

You could pick one of the schedules and allocate some extra time to the areas you feel you are weak in. Or, before starting your schedule, you could go through your weak area. Like for me, before I started studying with EK, I went through Kaplan Biochem because I didn't take a prereq.

Try TBR for the subjects that you are not very confident in. I didn't use them personally, but I know a bunch of people who were in a similar situation and used them. It worked great for them because TBR is strong in content review.
I also recommend watching some videos (KA, AK Lectures etc.) Sometimes it helps getting the information through some other form that isn't text on a page.
