Immunology states that type 4 hypersensitivity is cell mediated and does NOT involve antibodies.

How can we, then, explain the presence of anti-GAD and anti-islet cell antibodies in type 1 DM or anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies in Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
