Does anyone have any idea what the MINIMUM going rate (per day) would be for an O.D. just out of school, working as an independent contractor (i.e no benefits included) for a private practice? (assuming the doctor works 40 hours/week, including saturdays, and on average sees about 15 patients a day?)

I am only familiar with NY, TN, KY, CA, and AZ, through friends, the standard for the areas they work are around $50/hr. I have seen a deal of $350 per day or 50% of the fees whichever is greater for a 9 hr day. That too will average about $50/hr but it encourages you to take that walk in at the last minute. If you are hungry enough take whatever you can get, pizza is cheap. In general, private practice will screw you as an employee. The owners are accustomed to paying techs $11/hr so it is just too hard for them to let go of any money.

The number of patients you see really doesn't matter unless it is over 25 in which case you want a bonus. If they only get you 15 that is their problem.
