Away rotation necessary if home institution doesn't have an OB/GYN residency?

    My situation is this:
    • Step 1 230s, all passes third year so far (H/P/F school), two pending publications
    • Did four weeks of OB/GYN at a rural site at the beginning of third year, but my final four weeks are the last month of third year (June) along with OB/GYN being my last shelf
    • Have one strong letter-writter who I plan on rotating with again fourth year who says he personally knows some program directors
    I'm just wondering if I will be looked down upon for not working with residents since I won't know the workflow that occurs on the resident team. I am willing to shell out money to do an away.
