away rotation thru mid-December too late?

I understand that most ortho programs interview in Dec & Jan. If I was planning on doing an away that goes through early/mid Dec would I be screwing myself over? Ideally I'd like to get a LOR out of it, but is it too late at that point to have it sent out to ERAS?

I personally think this is too late. It's do-able, but why miss out on those precious few late November or early December interviews?
