Hi guys, So I'm probably going to be finishing up a Masters in Neuroscience this summer or next, and I'm looking ahead and know that I want to do something more clinical with the rest of my career. Even with the Masters and a B.A. in neuroscience, I don't have some of the pharmacy pre-reqs. like Anatomy & Phys., Econ., Microbio. (though I will have had 2 diff. immunology courses--no labs, though). I'm just wondering how strict the adcoms are about specific pre-reqs., since I will have had waaaay more science that I can handle (I've published a bunch of boring papers, too), but not necessarily what it says the schools require on their websites. Just wondering if anyone out there has applied to pharmacy programs with a Masters and what they've had to do to get in in terms of additional coursework. Basically, I'm considering signing up for Comm. College classes while I finish the Masters, if I have to, which just seems kind of ridiculous...

You'll have to deal with it on a school by school basis. In certain circumstances, a school will let a class or two slide. Sometimes you'll have to take it at the school while in the PharmD program.

I know it seems like a hassle to talk to the schools about it, but it has to be better than suffering through macro/micro economics at a community college. Ugh.

Depends on a school like the above poster mentioned.

Pre-requisites are pre-requisites. No matter if you have 4 Ph.Ds... you have to have the pre-requisites done.

And there's nothing wrong with CC classes.

I have over 220 credit hours and two degrees. Recently I was accepted to pharm school, but am currently agonizing through a semester of microeconomics. Passion4sci said it best, pre-req's are pre-reqs. You gotta do them. Most schools allow you to interview and get accepted with out all of them done. They should be finished by matriculation however.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love CC. 90 credits of my undergrad came from there. I should have said micro/macro economics at ANY college is horrible. Actually, my macro professor probably just made it horrible.

Depends on the school. UF has a public speaking pre-req. Before I applied I was a public school teacher (High school Physics) and I still had to take public speaking.

On the other hand, NOVA accepted me with only one eco course done and no mention of finishing the other. So try to find out and try not to come off with a "I am so much better than taking your pre-reqs attitude". They won't like it.
