B.A. vs B.S. Degree

Hi - I have a BA in chemistry with a minor in bio, and I can tell you that I have NEVER had anybody comment on the lack of BS degree since I actually graduated - not in grad school interviews, multiple job interviews, or pharmacy school interview. My general sense is that if you take enough science credits to have a major and a minor in a science area, you will have enough to show the adcom that you can handle the work.

I was actually wondering this same thing last night so am really glad you posted this. My school offers both programs but the difference between them is literally just about 10 hours. It's not major. Because of that I'm considering going for my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry if I don't get into pharmacy school when I apply in a few years. This probably isn't helpful but just wanted to comment anyway. Will be watching for answers though as this is interesting. 🙂

A lot of applicants do not even have a degree at all. You have one. That alone will make you stand out, even if it is a BA. And I don't get why you are worried about the difference. They are different; one is not superior to the other.

BA vs. BS should have no bearing. I'd rather get the BA from the prestigious university. I know UC Berkeley only gives BA's, some other traditional universities follow the old style of giving only BA's for everything.
