Hello,
I just completed two semesters of general chemistry and I got B for both. Second semester, that supposedly is harder than the first, I was making solid A, but then really did bad on the final, and my grade dropped. I realize, I have to work harder and improve my study habits and test taking skills. I just get too nervous during the finals. My overall science GPA is 3.6. My question is how much weight do pharmacy schools put on chemistry grades in general? Are these grades the most important ones? Should I retake chemistry and make A, or just leave it like it is and try to do my best on organic chemistry and PCAT? I would appreciate all responses and input.

Don't retake the B. Your science GPA is solid. There is nothing wrong with a B.

Thank you. I was feeling kind of discouraged.

I think a B is alright for Gen Chem. Don't worry about that too much. Focus on doing well in your ochem and PCAT. 🙂 Best wishes! :luck:

Yeah, don't worry about the general chemistry. B is good enough. They really look at your organic chemistry grades, so try to do good in those classes. 3.6 for science is very good.

Or not...B in OChem I and C in OChem II.
Did very well on Chem section of PCAT, though.

i got a C- in general chemistry. both semesters. hehe 😳
but i totally made up for it on the pcats.
you'll be fine.

i had AP credit for gen chem but i got C's both semesters in orgo and i got in places. i did really well on teh pcat though, so i guess that helped. but yeah like people siad a B is fine.

I found General Chem II easier than General Chem I. Probably because it was more analytical, and less memorization.

Even if you retake the B, what if you don't get an A.. but a B again. I think I'd focus on other things besides messing with Bs. :scared: If people start saying retake Bs, I'll be in college forever!

Stay with the B. You're fine. There's people out there who would kill for a B. 🙂

Yeah really! I made C's in all four chemistry classes, and it was fine! Don't worry about it! 🙂
