Hi,

I am in the process of pursuing a B.S. in Psychology however, the program does not include clinical emphasis. I wondering what jobs/positions/careers I will be able to pursue with this degree? Or will I need to obtain a Master's degree with Clinical Emphasis to be able to use this degree?

Thank you for any and all help!!

You will not be able to do any real clinical work (other than working as nurse tech in psych hospital) with a BA/BS, as thats not what the purpose degree is.

The provision of psychological services is a graduate level skill and requires graduate level training. Masters programs in clinical psychology are often used as "stepping stones" to a ph.d program by people whos performance in undergrad was less than stellar and thus precludes them from being competitive for doctoral programs in psychology (in which the masters degree is earned along the way to the doctorate). However, masters-level providers can provide some psychological services, sometime under the supervision of a doctoral-level psychologist, and sometimes not...depending on the the states' laws.

Thanks very much. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't getting myself into a bad predicament. It is good to know that I will be on the same level as everyone as long as I do very well in my program. Again, thank you very much.
