Say my major is pre-pharmacy, the first 2 years and I don't get into a pharmacy college after that 2 years and I decide to go ahead and finish a bachelors, can it be anything, like nursing, for example? Even if I did the pre-req for pre-pharm, would I be able to finish nursing in the 3rd & 4th year of my undergrad? Or would there be other requirements/pre-req that will prevent me from finishing a bahcelors (like nursing) in 4 years total?

Also, applying for a pharmacy school can be yearly, is this correct? I mean - if the 2nd year you try, you can try again the 3rd year (even without a bachelor's?)?

Thanks in advance!
Please don't judge me with my questions.. haha. I'm still trying to figure things out. 😳

Your bachelor's degree can be in anything. Believe it or not, mine was in Interior Design! I graduated 7 years ago with it, have had a change of heart, have done work in the health field, gone back to school to finish pre-reqs, and am very happy to say that I have 2 interviews for fall of 2007 (out of 2 applications!)!!!

well... if you want to do nursing there may be classes that pre-pharm require that is not required in nursing. but i dont see why you cant finish it all in 4 years. a lot of classes coincide and you just have to work your butt off is all. if your major is something totally different (i did history and econ) it may be a lot harder to finish in 4 years.

you can apply yearly, but what is the point? you will be spending a lot of money and these days if you want to go to pharm, a lot of schools likes the bachelor degree and it makes you so much more competitive (but by all means im not saying its mandatory). if your sci gpa is really really good (like 3.6 and above) then by all means try it. but if its lower, it may not be the wisest choice if you are being economical. but thats my 2 cents

good luck with everything tho..

Happy holidays!

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure I will be able to finish Pharmacy in 6 years total, that's why I wasnted to make sure. Thanks again!!

drugdoc, congrats with the interviews. Good luck to you!

abt04, I agree w/ getting the bachelors degree rather than reapplying over and over. Hopefully though I'll survive with an okay GPA and be able to get into a Pharm school... hopefully. =D
