I am curious if anyone else has a fall up plan. I was a double major as an undergrad (psychology and Bible). So, if I can't get into grad school as a psychology major a might look into M Div and D. Min programs. I think the latter is written that way so those that have it wont brag about it 😀 but I digress a bit. So, anyone else considering the possibility of not getting in?

I think most people have thought of a backup plan, particularly with the odds of getting into graduate school for psychology programs. I had a layered backup plan. I applied to 9 Ph.D., 1 PsyD., and 1 M.A. If I did n't get into any of them, I was planning on staying in Atlanta to get a research assistant job at either Emory or Georgia State. I did have to use one of my "back ups"--going to the M.A. program. this fall. It wasn't the outcome I wanted, but it seems to have worked out.

I don't know about a backup undergraduate major, but I am sure people have considered the possibility of not getting in, even if it is for a fleeting moment.

It helps if your 'back-up' major is more reliable than your main major. This is coming from someone with a back-up major of theater 😛 I certainly enjoy acting, but it's not the most reliable/stable profession... thus why I'm in a psych Master's program right now and am preparing for round two of doctoral apps 😛 If all else fails I can always live in a van down by the river!
