What is/are your backups if you do not get into medical school?
I know we all have completely devoted and dedicated ourselves into this premed committment, but what will you do if medical school rejects you (maybe not once but twice)?
What do people usually do if they don't get into medical school or change their mind about medical school? What are similar paths?
What profession can you do as a premed/bio major instead of medicine?

My backups are pharmacy and research scientist (PhD). And maybe a long shot, patent/intellectual property law.

You, sir, would make one hell of a forest ranger

Some form of a career in a health-related profession. If that doesn't work out, graduate school and PhD. But that's a last option.

Why pharmacy?
Would you rather: PA, optometry, chiropractor, dentistry, nurse, pharmacist, etc...? Why?

I think it would suit my personality better than the other jobs you listed. Pharmacy is legit science, not hokey stuff like chiropractry. Dentistry is good but I really don't care about people's teeth at all.

He asked for other ways to use a bio degree, and I know for a fact that forest rangering and becoming a master zoo keeper are both interesting ways to use that BA/BS in bio

oh I see... although one would probably need more of a focus in botany or zoology to do those occupations.

other than doctors
which health care professions make the most money?

I have a couple ideas for what I would like to do if I don't make it to my top goal of medical school. Law school has always been a possible, albeit sidelined thought for me and honestly it's probably something I would have an easier time obtaining. It just doesn't have the same pull as healthcare for me.

Besides Law, I would probably attempt to become an agent for the FBI. They have a need for hard science degree holders and I could easily pass their physical admission standards. I can see myself enjoying the meaningful, if sometimes menial, work environment.

If all else fails I would have no issue being a teacher, lab tech, zoo keeper, or any number of other professions. Hell I wouldn't mind trying my hand at writing either.

PS: First post 👍!

Pimp. Seriously, no backup. I feel if I create a backup there might be a chance I would have to use it.

Malpractice law- beat me out for medical school and I'm making your life a living hell..

Reapply, and do one of the following depending on how long I decided I was okay with taking off between application cycles:

1) Continue on at my current job doing bench research, apply next cycle

2) Find a job doing clinical research and apply in two years

3) Join the military and apply in three <-----Really leaning toward this one

In three years you could come home like this.

Iraq is falling apart if you've been paying attention to the news. The US might have to do another "surge" in Iraq.

Guess I wouldn't have to worry about applying again.
