Bad Calc grades + WP = ???

Basically, math has been a challenge for me. Or at least calculus.

I didn't do well in AP calc in hs so I have to take calc in college. I got a C in calc 1 and I'm headed towards a C+/maybe a B in calc 2 after the last test.

Do you think it will alter how adcoms look at me given that hard sciences are fine? As and a few Bs in Ochem, bio, phys, biochem, upper level biochem courses (I'm a biochem major)?

How bad does a WP (withdraw pass) look? (I already have one in macro economics)

I have a mid 3.6 for added info, but realistically a 3.55-3.6 when applying

I am also not URM (South asian descent)

3.6-7 is already competitive. Just keep your math grade from dropping to a C and you are good.

The 3.65 is hopeful. 3.7 would be a 4.0 rest of my college career before applying, taking a full load every semester.

A 3.55 is realistic...does that change anything?

Of course. Any GPA drop or raise affects your chances. Depending on the MCAT, it can be as much as a 10% decrease in chances to 5%.

Thanks for that graph. I actually just was looking at it.

But to clarify, say my predicted MCAT/GPA amounted to a 50% chance, would that mean I would get accepted to 50% of medical schools, or that there is a 50% chance I get 1 acceptance?

The graph assumes at least 1 acceptance, but you might get more. Whether you get multiple acceptances is not addressed.

No absolutely not. Most likely 50 percent chance of getting AN ACCEPTANCE.

To actually have a decent chance with a 3.5 you're looking at a MCAT score > 32 but with a 3.6 a score > 30. Keep in mind though that this is assuming you don't have a downward trend.

Ehh, I tend to believe that good EC's can allow for a lower MCAT. His gpa is fine if you ask me, calc is annoying anyway and it's not too important for a good amount of med schools. Just dont get anymore C's and you're set

That's around the average but unless all 15 are safety schools I would apply to at least 20 which don't include top heavy schools.

First year med student here from an MD school. Your GPA is not bad (better than mine was) but it depends on where you go to college honestly. Trends are very important. I would not worry too much about your calc grade I got a C+ in calc and did not even take calc II. What you really need to focus on is getting a good MCAT score. If you can clear 31+ preferably you will have an application that most schools would consider I would say. I would also apply to as many schools as you can afford because that will increase your interview numbers. It's not easy to get interviews. You by no means have a bad start. Avg matriculating GPA is somewhere around 3.6 or 3.7. The lower GPAs are generally from "better" colleges.
