hi all,
im a 4th year with an eyeglass prescription around -10/-11, been wearing glasses since 4th grade with my eyes worsening every year until i was like 24. my siblings and father all wear glasses, but no one's prescription is anywhere near as high (or ugly) as mine. my sibling are all better than -3 or so and my dad is probably like -6.

is there anything i can do to keep my eyes from continuing down this path? is there anything i could have done before (or could do for future kids)?

thanks!

Nothing you can do really, at the present time. Research on this issue is increasing, however.

Just piggybacking on this issue, does such problem preclude you from pursuing ophthalmology as a career? I have similar problem but my refractions are like -5.5 and -3.5... Am I going to have progression of myopia, especially if I do a lot of microsurgery work?
