I would have a interview soon. So I prepare to go with this cool blazer as interview attire. I think the style just fit my personality well. When I ask my gf for advice, she suggest the blazer is not so cool or even a bad for interview. Now, I'm confused. Is it really that bad for interview? Any thoughts?

Always listen to the girlfriend, bro.

Well, I am a woman, and I DO think that blazer is cool. But I also think its not appropriate for an interview.

Ditto. Apparently this type of thing is fine if you're just interviewing for a PhD program, but not for med school or MD/PhD. (Source: The PhD Process.)

Contrary to television, men should generally not ask women (especially younger ones) for advice on men's attire. Women know about fashion i.e. faddish magazine stuff and how to dress you up like a cute doll. In general, consult a male tailor.

That being said, everyone here will tell you not to wear a blazer, but in fact a tailored suit. That seems to be the standard for males interviewing for med school. The actual opinions of your interviewers of course will remain a mystery until after the fact.

(that is a cool blazer, as far as I can see in the tiny picture. I have one like it.)

Good luck.

Disclaimer: free advice, worth what you paid for it, blah blah, to each his own, blah blah, exceptions to the rule yaddah yaddah.

First impressions are important- no blazer!!!

But I do like it😀

Of the 10 interviews I've been on, I'd say about 0 + 0 people have worn blazers. 100% suits. Get it tailored if you can afford it.

You'll remind people of this guy -

But always wear a suit.

"That bad?" Probably not. Bad idea, or just unnecessary to try? Probably.

Wear it after the interview.

People have exactly three options when it comes to interview attire.

1) Black Suit
2) Gray Suit
3) Navy Suit

Do not buck tradition. And if you wear white socks, I will slap you through the internet.

Don't be "that guy." I remember two distinct fellows that tried the "cool" look. One went without a suit jacket. Stuck out like a sore thumb and everyone gave him the "wtf" stare. Another went without a tie and unbuttoned the top two buttons. Everyone gave him the "you are a tool" stare.

Just be conservative, get in, and move on with your life 🙂

Even black is not the best.

Have you really seen applicants wearing white socks? I'd die from (internal) laughter if I saw that.

I've seen it a couple of times, and the people wearing that really stuck out.

You're all getting trolled by an advertising spammer, come on now. I thought it was obvious.

It is cool, but... It's way too casual for an interview. Suits are the way to go for sure.
