So I've been accepted to NOVA and LECOM but I just found out I'm getting a C in biochemistry. I haven't had a C before but it is during my senior year so I'm worried they will take away my acceptance or do you think I'll be okay? It was the HARDEST class i've ever taken, it had nothing to do with lack of effort so I'm a little worried.... any been in a similar situation?

Thanks!
Kate

Was your acceptance conditional upon your completion of pre-reqs or any other kind of condition? Even if it was, I can't see why PASSING a class that is (I assume) not a pre-req would give them cause to rescind your acceptance.

If nothing else, you've TAKEN biochemistry, which puts you ahead of some of your classmates first year in pharmacy school.

As far as I know and understand, ( at least with LECOM) all you need is a "C" to pass the class and don't forget to send them the transcript. Good Luck

Unless she has to maintain her GPA, and she thinks it might be difficult for her to do so if she has a 4.0 or something.

No need to get technical. For most pharmacy schools, a "C" is considered passing.

Anyway, I sympathize with you too. I'm a senior and am taking Biochemistry. It's definitely not an easy subject, although exposure to the material now will more than prepare you for the future. I'd buckle down if I were you and learn as much as you possibly can before the end of the semester. Good luck!

You got accepted, just pass and stop being a girl.

👎 That's seems kinda rude and unnecessary. Girls don't like comments like that.

Kate, I personally think it will be ok if your grades in other courses are good. As long as your GPA stays close to what it was when you applied, that possible C in Biochm shouldn't look bad.

This topic is rude and unnecessary, she got a passing grade and she's in.

Girls shmirls, who cares?

Kate does, and I do too. You could at least try to make her feel better since she has high standards for herself. Think about what you would want people to do if you were in her position.

I wouldn't complain about things she shouldn't be complaining about.

I would want people to rip me apart for asking such a stupid ass question.

No you probably wouldn't want that from people. Because if you're the one asking the question, it's important to you. Then if someone comes along saying it's a stupid question, you would feel disappointed and a little down.

You just have to realize that you can't completely understand what she's going through because you're not in her situation.

Oh, and she said she has no C's so far on her transcript, so it's bothering her.

i agree with TX, not the girl part but it's just a C (which is passing) and they are not going to take away acceptance when ur PASSING A CLASS?? an F or a D, you should be concerned. you are head of the game taking biochemistry.

so, don't stress out 🙂

first thanks crazybob. second wowza tx...if you feel that strongly just go to the next topic in the board. Cs are not looked at very well at my school or by myself. Passing doesnt mean doing well by my standards.

For some odd reason, I thought it was always like, "C+" or better. Maybe that's my imagination.

Either way OP, don't fret too much. A single C, especially in a class as renowned for its difficulty as Biochemistry, won't sink you particularly if the remainder of your academic record is more or less sterling 🙂

What about an accepted student getting straight C's on their final semester, 13 credit hours, with all non-pre requisite classes? Has anyone been heard of anyone being denied because of that? Strong case of senioritis if you ask me.

Hello Kate,

Dont let your mind wander---finish strong, there's still room for improving that C grade. I dont know if your program has biochem as a prereq, seeing that some schools dont. If anything you're ahead of the game. If it's a prereq, you've got the spring and summers months to complete it so dont psyche yourself out---I have a good feeling you'll pull through though. Best of luck and congrats on your acceptance.

If thats your only C then stastically your GPA might drop 1.0-2.5 points. Not a big deal cause Im assuming u have alot of A's and B's so the A's and B's outshine that one C in your gpa average overall. Your good in my opinion.
