OP: Your only option at this point is to apply broadly and own up to your GPA. The AVERAGE (people on SDN often don't understand averages) GPA for dental schools is usually in the 3.5 range. That said, there will be people who get in with 3.9s and 4.0s. There will also be people who get in with 3.0s and 3.1s. Obviously, 3.9s and 4.0s are limited by the number of applicants who have such high marks. 3.1s and 3.0s are limited by the number of seats available after those with anything above those marks have been accepted. You are fighting an uphill battle, and most adcoms will question your commitment to dentistry and your work ethic. You need to convince them (if possible) that you will be a good dental student, and that you will survive dental school. Perhaps you should be asking yourself if you can survive dental school. What was the REAL reason for your poor GPA? Are YOU certain that you will do well in dental school? Why are YOU certain of this? If you are lazy and unmotivated now, why do you expect that to change in d-school? Why should patients have to accept a dentist who describes themselves as lazy and unmotivated? If you can explain it to yourself, then maybe you'll have a chance at explaining it to adcoms.
Mike Ashley, what was your RC score on the DAT? Because you fail to comprehend just about every thread that you waste valuable space and critical resources in.
OP is a senior. OP is obviously wondering about how to address their low grades on their application. Getting better grades is clearly not an option at this point as they are a SENIOR.
No unicorns or Pollyanna insults required, just a straight answer which actually addresses the question the OP asked.
